Yeah it’s not enough from the patriots because that pick will be the last pick in the first round

I never said patriots division isnt garbage in fact they would be down there as the weakest out of the eight. But honestly how is the afc south not mediocre, if the best is supposedly our texans who repeatedly get their ass handed to them in playoffs.

Well at least u can come to the conclusion that our franchise is mediocre, and of course its fine celebrating making it to playoffs. But we have some fans here thinking we are built to compete for the superbowl after winning the afc south divison when really we r just there bc our division is weaksauce.

But we aren’t the best according to nfl experts.

The colts are super bowl contenders to some and ranked in top 10 nfl power rankings.

Well i dont believe we are the best, so i agree. With BoB as our coach, i can say we at least top 16.

    Sorry, exceptions make the rule.

Only one team in a full season ever made it to the playoffs with a losing record.
More to the point, here is a reference to the Houston Texans playoffs.

    2011: 10-6
    2012: 12-4
    2015: 9-7
    2016: 9-7
    2018: 11-5

Even when the fans perceive that the Texans stumbled into the playoffs, the Texans were better than average.

In those full seasons, I still count 5 teams with an "AVERAGE" record make the playoffs. Isnt that what you stated in the other post?

EDIT: On a further look: there have been 11 teams play a full season to have an average record and 2 losing records to make the playoffs.

.... because the playoffs are a small sample size and the regular season does matter?........

The AFC South was the only division in football last year with three teams posting winning records. As with the Texans' 11-5 record, this idea that the division is "mediocre" is just a flaccid attempt to discredit any success the Texans have.

This is... I don't buy it. Drafting Mario Williams over Reggie Bush and Vince young was a risk. Signing Brock Osweiler was a risk. Firing Brian Gaine was a risk.

I could list many more. The Texans make poor decisions. But they are not a cheap, risk-adverse franchise.

I meant more conservative as it pertains to management decisions. with the exception of gaine, they held on to rick smiths for a long time, same thing with kubiak and now with bob. They don't like shaking things up at the top and give the people in that position too much leverage.

    The 12 team playoffs started 2002. Since 2002 (to 2018) there have been 204 playoff berths (17 x 12).

Of those 204 berths, only 7 teams have had 500 or below record:

    2004 St. Louis Rams (8-8)
    2004 Minnesota Vikings (8-8)
    2006 New York Giants (8-8)
    2008 San Diego Chargers (8-8)
    2010 Seattle Seahawks (7-9)
    2011 Denver Broncos (8-8)
    2014 Carolina Panthers (7-8-1)

    7 / 204 = 3.4% playoff teams have been average or below.

    Thus, exceptions make the rules.

Like i told u b4 who cares about regular season success y do u keep trouting our overall record and division title like it validates your thought that our team was good? We got our ass handed to us against the colts in playoffs and they had a shttier record and didnt win the division title. Playoff success are what matters and sadly we have none worth mentioning under BoB. Making into playoffs isnt a success, its a given for team vying for the ring.

It is not. Go back and read it.

An average team is one that is average for the league, not a team that posts a record that supports your argument. Less than half the teams make the playoffs so playoff teams are, by definition, above average. Your hand-picking of a record to argue against that is stupid and irrelevant.

That's such a simple way to look at things.

    Using
    http://www.nfl.com/stats/categoryst...OTAL_YARDS_GAME_AVG&d-447263-o=2&d-447263-n=1

    Total Yards: Houston 15th
    Passing: 17th
    Rush: 8th
    Receiving: 16th
    Points: 11th
    Points per game: 11th

U can probably argue that we are technically above average compared to the overall league, but when it's playoffs there's only 12 teams.
Out of the 12 team we are the most mediocre of the bunch using offensive stats alone, but we have people in here acting like the Texans are legit superbowl contenders with their 11-5 record and AFC south division title.

These fans support the mediocrity of just participating in the playoffs and arent too dishearten by the soul crushing ass whooping our team receives year in and year out in playoffs. Sure u can call them average or above average, but it doesn't change the fact that we have yet to even reach the superbowl or AFC championship.

    Our all-time playoffs: 3-5
    Wild Card Round: 3-2
    Divisional Round: 0-3

Over a span of 18 years...... fking pathetic and mediocre

Watching the Jags Josh Allen go off, I cant help but feel the Texans should really make this trade happen. Like make it soon.

Because 16 games are a more representative sample size than, you know, one...

I'm sorry, man - this isn't a very healthy way to watch sports. At least not to me. The 16 regular season games matter, and here, I can prove it: if the Texans went 3-13 - so no playoff game to judge them by - you'd be in here stomping your feet that they needed to fire BoB. Well... if 3-13 matters, 11-5 matters, too. Following that up with a poor performance in the playoffs is certainly disappointing - but it in no way invalidates those 16 games. They happened. We all saw them. I would guess you maybe, probably even enjoyed a few of them.
