Perkins was on XM with Justin termine and Eddie Johnson. He said that Tilman was mad when the team was struggling and said he wasn’t going to pay the tax for a bad team. Morey scapegoated Melo to pacify Tilman. This Perkins version of what he claims a source told him
Melo was salvagable up to the point when Ego started complaining that he wasn't having fun. #hotgarbagetake
Well we played much better without Melo. I do believe there is an argument that we could have used him in the playoffs but it looked pretty rough at the beginning of the year.
if perk said it, he definitely got it from a player close to the situation. but the not paying tax part lines up too.
Listening to Melo, and he sounded truthful, it was odd. He asks for a meeting to fix things after only 10 games. They had won 3 of the last 4, and Melo was actually doing much better scoring 20+ in 4 of the last 7. That's a fair request. But it likely triggers a text to Fertitta who is already fuming. Fertitta blows a fuse for some reason. And it's done. I could see that even though I don't agree with it.
Well it doesn't explain why Melo still doesn't have a job so it seems like the Rockets are being used as scapegoat because Melo can't find a job.
What argument is that? Horrible defense and horribly inefficient scoring isn’t useful in a playoffs setting.
This is laughable and literally not worth our time to be worried about, but hey, slow news week for basketball.
So Tilman doesn't want to pay the Luxury tax and Morey responds by trading one of our least expensive players? Sounds legit, Kendrick.
