Basically we trade away Stassi for Maldonado and 2 prospects. Kemp was gonna leave anyway. Is there an award for best GM or executive of the year? This man deserved it.

It is because the pitchers like to pitch to Maldonado (Astros offered him 2 year $12 million). Stassi is talented, but he needs more experience, Angels are going to be good for him.

That’s a fantastic return for Stassi. Playing time in the GCL OF gonna be hard to come by. Barber, Nix, Cortabarria, Pinto, Giron, and now these 2 guys.

    What effort?

This seems like the most effortless pair of trades ever.

So Marisnick literally knocks out LuCroy and then Stassi knocks him out of a job.

He has to HATE the Astros.

I would consider Lucroy over Maldonado. We should offer them Maldonado and a low-level prospect. That would be hilarious. Musical chairs.

Not happening. They wanted Maldonado because he knows the pitching staff.

Well...since the trade deadline has passed, he can't be traded. There is no waiver trade deadline anymore.

I forgot about that. I'm sure someone will pick him up.

Not that long ago, Luhnow had a hard on for this guy. If he wasnt dealt to arlington, he would probably have a ring and love this org. Now, he just hates us with a passion.

Why give up 2 prospects in a trade for Stassi when Lucroy was back? Stassi is the worse catcher isn't he? The way he was defended by the Angels in the Jake incident, you'd thought he was family over there. Now they just release him? WTF? What am I missing?

Lucroy has been really bad this year and his defense has fallen off to the point where he's borderline unplayable. Stassi will be with them next Spring, Lucroy wasn't going to be, and they're very thin at catcher, plus they couldn't make any moves with him while he was on the IL. Also gives him the outside chance to latch on with a contender in the next 2 months if somebody needs an injury replacement or something.

His hitting hasn't been really bad comparatively, .242/.310 w 7 HR. Much better than Stassi and better than Machete. Although, other than watching him get steamrolled by Jake (sounds like a workout infomercial) I haven't watched the Angels play too much this year. Can he not frame pitches anymore? Why has his defense fallen off so much? He has thrown out 26% of runners, right at league average.

Can't block anything and his receiving skills have really diminished. Their staff ERA is about a run higher with him behind the plate opposed for the other 2 guys they've used.
