The Passed Ball King returns !!

Just keep Chirinos fresh and hopefully play zero innings in the postseason.

Unless we can toss him into another package, maybe?

****! This guy was a complete joke in the playoffs last year. Let's hope Chirinos can play every single day in the playoffs. Don't mind Maldo in the regular season but he proved he forgets how to catch in the playoffs. Way too many boneheaded mistakes.

I’m sure that’s the option they will hunt for. Otherwise probably have to DFA, right? Can’t see 3 catchers right now.

Yep. When the ace and one of the best pitchers of the era wants absolutely nothing to do with you, it’s gotta shake your confidence as a catcher.

Curious to see if Stassi gets packaged elsewhere. He may actually play well again if he’s not looking over his shoulder at JV. He’s shown flashes of being a plus offensive catcher and usually is well regarded in framing and holding base runners... not a bad buy low candidate for a rebuilding team.

I am an evil person. Love this trade..not because I am a fan of MM, but for the response the trade will cause.

This is an upgrade at backup catcher. So long as he isn't thrust into the starting role like he had to last season due to McCann injury I am ok with this. Traded an extra position player with no roster spot for a competent backup Catcher.

Great spot for Kemp. Hope he kills it in Chicago.

Traded one backup catcher who can't hit for **** and is deficient behind the plate for another backup catcher who can't hit for **** and is deficient behind the plate, but in a different area. Great trade.

I look forward to more attempted sac bunts by Maldonado.

Stassi is bating .167 with a .446 OPS. Maldonado is .227 with .657 OPS. It's an upgrade.

The umpire was a better backstop. And a better hitter. I don't like or understand it, other than Stassi is just that bad. Nothing really lost here, but nothing really gained either.

    I'm fine with this trade.

The Astros improved their back up catching situation and it cost them basically nothing.
