A 5 minute preview from the 4th upcoming season was released by Amazon. And the traditional teaser: The best sci-fi series currently now has a considerably larger budget with no fcc restrictions on content and time restrictions. The 5 minute preview really does express the larger production budget.
This will be the1st time I have actually watched a streaming series because I am usually trying to catch up in stuff I DVR to create space. I watched this on SYFY and it's one of my favorites at the moment and since I have prime I can't wait for this It does look amazing.
The first two season were worth it for the fact that the world building was top notch. Truly exited for this season. More exited for it that any GOT season.
Quoting myself... but I am halfway through season 3 now, so catching up. Wow... I always "liked" the show, but thought it got a little bit too "crazy alien / mystical" by the end of the second season, which is way I didn't gobble up season 3 when it came out. But yes, indeed... this season definitely redeems and more the show. For one, the visuals and CGI on this show is absolutely fantastic. For two, the story line has gotten a lot more believable. Like I can envision a future where this is the reality... ... except I still don't LOVE the protomolecule stuff.... kind of the same as GOT, the white walker stuff wasn't really the most interesting thing. Anyway, great show, looking forward to finishing season 3 and seeing seaosn 4 when it comes out.
I believe it's going to be a episode per week release so you would have to wait a few months to binge the whole season. But if you haven't even watched the first season yet, yes, seasons 1-3 are very bingable. The series starts relatively slow in the first season. Each season is a jump in quality. The reason the show probably isn't as popular as it should be is because the first 4 episodes are slow in progression and focus a lot on world building.
Production value looks much better than when on SyFy. It looks exciting, but I hope the story keeps a sci-fi element. The other promo gave me a corporate bad guy vibe but in space.
That's what I've heard from reddit threads. I'm fine with that. They're keeping a hard sci fi element. The space settings are beautiful, particularly the battles, but last season was primarily in space/the ring. I'm excited to see what Amazon's budget can do.
Definitely a slow start, but worth it. I heard good things about the show and tried watching the first episode 4 different times. I literally fell asleep twice. I finally got through it and the second episode was a little better, by the third episode I was into it. I'm into season 3 now and it's one of my favorite series.
It is slow going at first but man once it gets going it really hooks you. I am excited for this season. The next three books covered were my favorite of the series. I have been waiting for this to drop for some time. If you have not read the books I highly recommend it. The shows do a good job but there is a lot there to unpack.
Not the spoiler-iest spoiler. Broadest possible outline of location based on book. Spoiler In the book, half the team spends the story on the "frontier planet", the other half spends most of it in orbit around that planet.
