    Thomas and Dumars co-existed.

I really don't see much difference between Harden/CP3 and Harden/WB... except that WB isn't as good of a 3 point shooter, but he's a much better rebounder, penetrator, and playmaker at this stage in their respective careers.

If anything, Russ sets up Harden better than CP3 could set up Harden.

A guy who today would be considered a borderline all star and a guy who was not even that, having peaked in the ABA years before? I hope not.

    Just some perspective -

Earl Monroe + Walt Frazier 1972

    36.6 ppg 10.6 rpg 9.7 apg 49% FG in 5561 minutes
    53% TS 19.6 WS

    James Edward Harden III 2019

    36.1 ppg 6.6 rpg 7.5 apg 44% FG in 2867 minutes
    61% TS 15.2 WS

So Nick was bald by choice? Who knew he could grow so much hair? Look at the amount of Product FS1 is giving him.

Soooo...this is a bad sign, coming from the guy who put together Steve Francis and Marbury and Eddie Curry.

Just remember that most of these pundits with opinions we want to use to validate this trade hated the CP3 pairing and said it COULDN'T work.

Had first take on as background noise this morning and saw Screamin A was ranking the top duos in the league.

    He put our guys 5th.

Max chimed in that you could argue Dame and CJ should be ahead of Harden and Westbrook.

There are just as many saying it won't work or the Jim/Russ pairing is ranked low out of the best pairings in the NBA.

You can't compare modern NBA to Walt and Earl's era. It's a completely different game. Those stats don't mean anything.

    They mean what they mean.

You're right in that we don't need those stats to tell you that Harden is miles better at basketball than either of those two ever were.

WS is an interesting stat from this perspective. What explains higher TS but lower WS from Harden? Replacing two lower ranking players instead of one sure, but are there any other factors?
