That wasn't the tweet he was replying to about pity party. That pity party was a response to McHugh's wifes tweets. Which were great and insightful and I enjoyed. I love the McHughs.

IF the question is who is a better baseball player between Kemp and Straw it's Straw and it's not particularly close. That said, they might want to keep Kemp around since Straw has options, but absent injuries and severe roster juggling, and being willing to send down a superior player, Kemp is done with the Astros.

I hope he gets traded to somewhere he can play. He's a major leaguer. He's just not one of the best 25 options on a 100 win, world series contending team.

I think straw MAY be better but his sample is way too small to say it isn’t close. Kemp has proven to be a solid player off the bench. We always have injuries and he has helped with that. Also, having straw AND kemp on the bench is something to think about. Tonight they batted 8 and 9 and thats a pretty tough 8 and 9, even on a championship contender. They both play infield positions too. I think next year we are looking at a starting outfield of brantley, springer, tucker with Alvarez at DH. Straw and kemp make great backups. Jake has nice trade value.

Boy. I really like both of them, Straw maybe a little more. His eye at the plate can really let that speed play.

Barring Kemp or Straw getting traded, Straw has options and will likely get sent down when Correa and Diaz are both back. Straw would return no later than the September 1 call up. Even given that, Straw should have edge over Kemp on the playoff roster since he has better IF and OF defense and is a plus plus base runner.

Like a coin, there are two sides. The professional baseball side and the personal. For the most part, this site and its discussions are aimed at the former.

As sometimes happens, someone comes along and tries elicit shame by taking comments in one context (professional) and transpose them to another (personal).

I took shots at White repeatably. But I am not the least bit shamed by them knowing how I meant them.

I don't think it is phony. Most people on this board are a-holes at some time or another including myself (i.e., people have good days, bad days). This post is basically you admitting you cam sling mud like the rest of us, but don't like being called out on it when you are.

I have to disagree with you on the edge thing both play if and of positions though Straw does have a speed edge but Kemp is the better hitter.

Playoff roster wise, maybe Kemp has the advantage of being a LH hitter, given the other likely bench hitters will be RH’s Diaz, Marisnick and Stassi.

That said, we don’t need 5 starting pitchers, so conceivably we could carry both Straw and Kemp and avoid the either/or discussion.

The issue for me is that it won’t be either or when Diaz and Correa come back and personally I still prefer Straw to stay on the 25.

    Based on what?

Straw is significantly faster, can play all 3 outfield positions well, has a much better arm. There's really no contest between the 2.

Straw will get sent down because he has options, but when they decide the playoff rosters he should clearly be ahead of Kemp.

No. You aren’t getting it. It’s saying: We all sling mud. So don’t pick and choose when to act like you are above slinging mud. As some routinely do.
If I am overweight, and I get told by a guy pushing 3 bills that I need to loose weight, Yeah, I'm gonna have a problem with that. Mudslingers shouldn't call out mudslingers for slinging mud.

This is some hypocritical bullsh#%. Basically, you are saying it is okay for you to take shots at someone else, but that it isn't okay for someone to do it to you. If you can't take it, don't dish it out.

No, you dumbass. It's not ok for 2 people to take shots at the same person, and then have one guy say: you are a bad person for taking shots at said person. That is hypocrisy. It has nothing to do with me not wanting to be criticized, or made fun of.

The facts are, Tyler White is still fat. He's gone and that makes the home team better and the Astros are going to the World Series!

I just hope White isnt picked up by the Yankees or Dodgers and comes back to haunt us!

Did T for 3 just call Joe Joe fat?!

I've blasted White often same as Corey Sewer. I'm an a-hole for that and don't care if I'm call that but as long it is along forum guidelines. I'm here to have fun and add good, or bad to the board. If Tyler White hadn't become Charlie Kerfeld, he would likely still be an Astros. He had so many 1-2 counts which meant he wasn't fighting, it was all, or nothing for him. When White got cut, my reaction was life goes on. Just like Marvin Gonzalez.

I wanted Tyler to be successful just like everyone else. The thing that disappointed me was his apparent lack of desire to put in the work to get into shape. Everyone noticed he cane into spring training out of shape and over the course of 4 months there was not much sign he was attempting to reverse that. I assume he will go somewhere and get in shape and be productive. Hopefully it’s not at our expensive.

I could understand if he was better when he was fat, convincing his mindset he needed the weight to hit for homers and average, but everything pointed to his having been better when trim. So don't understand how he let this happen, and still hasn't lost the weight after returning. You can lose that kind of weight in just a couple of months if you are focused on leaving carbs out. The team could have made sure that happened with his agreement.

I really like what Straw brings to the table. Wow, he is a luxury with his speed; he’s got almost no HR power, but he can get on base and play defense!

But I agree his sample size is small, and he has options. Tony Kemp has been through the meticulousness of ML pitching and he’s still chugging along. Tony isn’t an all star but he’s more than solid.

I would really like to keep Straw on the team, but I would hate to lose Tony Kemp who is a legit MLB groomed player, for nothing...

Tony, Díaz, Marisnick are gonna hold the fort on the bench. But Straw more than adequately showed he has a viable MLB future.

But if Luhnow goes with Straw, I got no beef against that because I always find myself anticipating Staw’s at bats.

There’s something to be said for team chemistry too, and Kemp seems like the type who helps with that. I dunno, I just can’t get on board with losing a Tony Kemp. Not if there is any reasonable way around it.
