I fear for the future of men if this upsets you. Thats sad, you have to be a pretty sad individual for this to affect you.
I fear for you if my caring about my favorite movie franchise and its future makes you fearful. Also lighten up. The D and D needs more interesting topics than U.S. politics and Trump's twatter farts and AOC's socialist cause. If it's not of interest, there are plenty of threads with far more serious issues. This thread has been a hotbed of banter and assholery so I would say it's actually going pretty well here init?
For people who are just now getting hep to this, here is a great write up explaining it. Key bits have been quoted. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/films/2...t-become-morality-tale-toxic-masculinity/amp/ The key part is identity politics and PR dark arts. This is an unmistakable attempt to shore up a franchise with BS instead of an actual good movie. People in here act like I have a problem with women or black people, when all I want is Bond in a movie doing his thing without a sermon involved for the church of feminism. Not some SJW modern feminist zealotry. Not everything has to be filled with isms and made into hamfisted ideological parables. All I want is a sexy, seductive, action movie with my favorite character unhindered by the writer's psychological problems. The black and woman aspect of casting a character is not the core of the problem. In fact it isn't really the problem at all. It is a cheap way to dismiss actual fans who have valid complaints and worries with the new production. It's the reason for it and the execution of it into some ideological crusade against the world. We've seen this with countless productions lately and it won't stop here. Countless Hollywood people, and people in comics and games, have bashed fans for not supporting crap like this instead of owning up to the fact that no one wants feministm sermons in their entertainment. It's not escapism at all and not fun and people don't care. These industry people doing this are far left weirdos who are incapable of owning up to the fact the they continue to lay turds instead of putting out exciting, original, and fun products that people would actually enjoy spending money and time on. Why? Because they are disconnected from Americans. They spend too much time online in the twittervese... which isn't real life. Most people are not all like the complaining savage extremists on twitter. They don't want to see feminist lessons on their screen. They don't. Simply put. Also the new casting of 007 isn't really that attractive. She has this blank looking face. There is no way Bond would try to seduce her. She's not ugly of course, but she certainly isn't Bond girl material. I just don't buy it. They should have casted someone with the proper looks for a bond girl. This is a male fantasy classic, and I don't think men fantasize about exotic locations with 5's instead of 10's. Same for women fans, as Bond should be attractive; because men want to be him and women want to be with him. That's what people want from a Bond movie, and this just spits in the face of what makes Bond Bond.
Rhino17's post is classic case of "concern trolling," which is a tactic used by leftists to defend their positions. "You must be a misogynist if...…… Please get some help" etc.
How well did Ghostbuster's II do? I don't know why people are so against women and minorities in films? You think Hollywood is doing it to appease people? You think they are spending all that money because of some SJWs???? Really? You think they are motivated by morality or a sense of justice? Are you kidding me? If you think Hollywood is motivated by anything but profit, you have to do some serious inward thinking. And why does it matter if Bond is black or a woman and not white? Because you want a white character? Because you will enjoy it less? Do you realize what that says about you?
Ah Sweet Lou, you are so dependable with your strawman arguments. I'm not saying that at all. If someone wants there to be an African-American or Indian-British spy character, then create a new one. Making Bond anything other than a white male is "cultural appropriation." Here are some additional ideas: Let's make Wonder Woman a Mexican male. Let's make Black Panther an Asian woman. After all, "diversity is our strength."
That clip seems perfect this thread, just go ahead and replace "black" with "women" ... and boom spot on. Who cares dude. Something fascinating is that this seems to be a partisan thing based on the few members who agree with you in this thread. That's pretty wild. This seems like some sort of bizarre alt-right twitter/youtube culture stuff, which isn't too surprising considering we are on an internet forum. To me, the only thing worse than actual "SJW's" are people who are actively "anti SJW warriors", if that makes sense.
The funny thing is that they think these rich movie producers are listening to college SJW's on how to invest hundred's of millions of dollars in an effort to make a profit.
Who is against minorities and women in films? Sounds like yet another SL42 massive failed assumption.
Sure. The Bond character comes from a long-standing British family, with roots deep in British history. See "Skyfall," which speaks to Bond's British and aristocratic background. Family that has been British for years: That means white.
Nope, just a group of extremists in the leftist-leaning California. These feminists go into production companies and say oh there is a problem with toxic masculinity and men, and the people there just say OK and are too afraid to say no one wants that crap. This is their new religion and all must comply.
Oh you just don't want them stealing "white culture" is that it? So tell me please, how is James Bond part of white culture? Or the Ghostbusters part of white male culture? Or Ariel - how is that "White Culture"? Why does race matter here?
Do you think that white people have culture? Or people of European descent? Is there ethnic culture there? What do you think about black characters getting replaced with white characters? What is called white washing? And the big question... does any of it really matter? I'll rant a bit about it: Bond is British and his character from a British background. Little Mermaid is based on a Danish story is it not? Are they all not historically white places? One may b**** and moan at first but this isn't really a good thing to argue about or approach it this way. Apart from immigration in recent times these are largely white places ethnically. But that's a distraction and NOT IMPORTANT. If these are period pieces, like Little Mermaid, you could argue why make the character black. But she's from under the sea, so you can make her whatever race. Good casting decision BTW. Let's go to Ghost Busters. Uh obviously ghostbusters were men and it was better that way because that's the original characters but you can make them women. The movie just was a turd. And they were always black and white. Race shouldn't be an issue. They could be hispanic or even all Black. I would see it for sure. Race doesn't matter. Hell, where is the Asian ghostbuster? I really don't care. James Bond, eh the character in the book is a white British guy, so you could argue that it matters, but I wouldn't cry about such a change. In fact, Idris really would have been a fine casting choice if he was younger AND HE IS WAY BETTER THAN CRAIG. They already don't cast according to the way Bond looks in the book so f*** it. If you put them in an audition together, the choice would have been easy to make. Let's do Spiderman too. I would love a black spiderman. Specifically Glover. Yes please that would be a great move. Take my damn money. I want a sequel and I didn't even know about this idea until today. In point, race largely doesn't matter with casting if it isn't in the lore or story and you aren't caring about trying to portray the actual character. But say if the casting move is just to make some SJW argument and point, yeah it would be stupid. Same with all the SJWs arguing about white washing ghost in shell and all that crap. Anyways, what do you think? I'm not a huge stickler on race in movies if it's a merit decision and not some preachy white wash or black wash, or a change just to market it with controversy. Let's jump to now. The woman being casted as 007 is fine... but not like FINE FINE. She isn't a looker. She's just kinda OK as a person and actress, and really the big issue is the woman's role in the movie and how it's being used as a parable for me too and feminism. That's what I take issue with. Feminist political preaching trying to be slid into everything instead of movies that stick to what makes the movies worth going to. Just an aside, it's refreshing to discuss something other than U.S.politics with you Sweets. Even if you're hurling racial accusations against me... I've enjoyed talking to you.
I haven't made any accusation against you here, only asking questions.... My only curiosity is where you get this idea that SJW's - who are essentially naive college students - have all this influence in Hollywood. Why isn't it they decided to make a black female bond because they know there isn't anyone really to replace Craig and the franchise is pretty tired. Why does it have to be this SJW conspiracy theory?
