Rockets fans pay close attention to summer of 2022

    This is the summer where Kevin Durant, James Harden and Russ all can opt out of their deals. Daryl Morey must be creative and prepare for the last hurrah for all 3 of those guys. It may very well be the last 3-4 year contract for all those guys. Morey must keep an extra max slot open for Durant for a possible OK3 reunion.

    Harden has a player option in 2022
    Westbrook has a player option in 2022
    Durant has a player option in 2022

    We must prepare for this summer

    TBH at that point none of the 3 may deserve a max contract. I wouldn’t do a 4 year max. As much as I’d like to reunite the 3 currently, do we really want 36-37 year old versions of these players in 2025-2026?

    Based on OKC’s track record we’ll be able to trade for that guy anyway. No worries.

    Imo a 2 year last dance with the 3 making up and having a reunion on maybe 20M deals with a 4th player who is young. San Antonio style would be really cool

    Harden will be 32
    Russ 33
    Kd 34 so it would be a 2 year run we add another young guy and have a spurs type run in early 10s

    They won't be as durable or have as much kick in their step in 3 years. There will be young stars rising up in 3 years who might be the new faces of the NBA. I just hope Harden and Russ can dodge the injury bullets this year so we can fire it up and be a force to beat in the competitive Western Conference.

    I was expecting this thread to discuss the drafting prospect class of 2021 as the true Rockets rebuild era will also start with a new GM.
