TC is a solid signing as others have said, but lest not forget he won a championship with the Mavs. He immediately improves our defensive rebounding and rim protection when Capela sits. He's not the post-up threat or shooter Nene is, but its not like we used those qualities much any way. He's also a quality leader who can talk to guys like Harden and WB in ways coaches can't sometimes. I really like this signing--a lot!
He is no longer much of a shot blocker and isn't as good a finisher as he used to be. Still when he plays, he gets almost all the rebounds and has a 7'4" wingspan that allows him to prevent players from abusing the paint. He is likely a good fit for the Rockets.
Yet still more expensive in the long run. He was also often injured over the past couple seasons. Tyson has remained astonishingly durable throughout the twilight years of his career, to this point. Key point - Vet Min. signings are always a plus.
I like this move better than the Westbrook trade. Desperately needed a big who can rebound, and he can still do that. GREAT move.
Nene is more skilled but he wasn’t the rebounder/rim protector Tyson is and he’s just as if not more stiff
LOL, seems we have been wanting Chandler since before Harden. But heck, he is a true 7 footer and even in his 50's he eats up space. And like Nene he is a good locker room presence. Now a backup PF that can offer weak side help would be good.
I’ve loved Chandler his whole career. Awesome player. He’ll be able to contribute in the roll he’ll have here.
Coincidence? Nah, we have been trying to nab TC for I don't know how many off seasons. Westbrook's star power, baby!
