He spent $2.2BILL ON THIS TEAM And y’all call him cheap LMAO, it’s an investment. No moves are throwing us over the top, he was willing to spend on a star. I don’t blame him
Mess? Les gave Tilman a championship caliber team in his first season with us, and now he's thrown it all away.
He was CP3 only fan before, and was willing to pay the max to CP3, which Les was not willing to pay it.
He bought it just for pride and ego. He doesn't care about winning unlike our previous owner Sir Les Alexander who delivered not one but TWO championships to Houston But man like @tinman and @Rasheed keep drinking the cheap Tilman kool aid
Jazz bought #58 pick at the cost of 2 million dollars. Expensive. Ja green at 4.6 million, expensive.
"Why did a dude with more money than he can use in many lifetimes, decide to buy a professional sports team?" Is this really the question you're asking?
Mess? Tilman inherited a team with arguably the best player in the world. The Rockets won 65 games a year ago, shattering the franchise record of 58. Had Harden and Paul not missed some time, the Rockets had a real chance at 70 wins. The Rockets win the title without an injury to Paul in game 5. Last year TILLMAN made the decision to not pay the tax and let both Ariza and Moute leave. He made the decision to not use the full MLE because he didn't want to go into repeater tax. Even with that, the Rockets lost a very close series to the Warriors where the largest margin of victory was six games. If not for Durant and Thompson and Looney being hurt, the Warriors would have won the championship again. Had the Rockets used their full MLE last year and this year, they very well could have the two long wings they lack because Tillman wouldn't spend the damn money. Also if you think Butler was all on Morey, you are wrong...... Tillman wants a splash...... and lets the less glitzy stuff fall by the wayside......... for example not extending his head coach so the Rockets are left with a mediocre lead assistant......... not signing Ariza and Moute. Instead all Tilman does is give impromptu press conferences where the GM looks bewildered by the words coming out of the owners mouth........ and then complain about the Grizzlies backing out of a deal for JaMychal Green......... the first round draft pick cost wouldn't have been an issue if Tillman insist on Ryan Anderson being dumped. If Tillman wants to be cheap, or foolish........ it is his right, but fans have the right to call him out on it. "I never said we had to be under the tax" - MY ASS TILLMAN
We won two championships with Les Alexander as OWNER. Those are the facts. Tilman bought a team that won 65 and almost won the WCF (more championship ready that Les) only to sink lower next season and yet to be seen...
Why do we continue to have threads on the same topic every day? Why can’t certain posters say anything new? Why does there have to be a narrative that needs to be pushed daily by these same posters?
Wait wait wait....did we sign Tilman to a 4 year $160 million extension last summer that pretty much nuked our cap space and I am just now finding out about it?
His sons and fame. Not every billionaire is famous. He obviously wants to be with that stupid show billionaire buyer and owning the rockets. Hate to say it, but the dude is a fame w***e.
TLR Ariza and Luc were washed and the GS series wasn't close. They choked and lost in 6 while at HOME. They would have lost to Toronto like they did earlier in the season. If Harden makes one free throw we wouldn't have even played GS in the second round. But I guess that's on Tilman too. I do think Tilman bought the team for his children though.
