Juan Paulino, who's normally a catcher but has seen time in left field and first, is now making his first career appearance at second.
It’s odd that the “spokesman” wouldn’t have confirmed if he were injured or just getting an unexpected day off. Probably nothing, but Bukauskas and Armenteros have both been placed on the temporary inactive lists.
Santana is in the game. Wilyer Abreu hit his 1st professional HR. Joe Perez has lined out right at OFs twice now, and Korey Lee hit a single at 108 mph.
No, I wish! The trackman operator is in the press box, so the pbp guy on milb.tv occasionally will read of the exit velocity. Tri-city's guy is pretty good about that, I've even heard him mentioning spin rates on pitches from time to time.
With a 2 run lead and 2 outs in the 9th, Bellozo gave up a soft single, a just-fair double on the 11th pitch of the AB to all time SEC hit leader Jake Mangum, and another double to give up the lead. He struck out 4 over 3.2 IP. Broadcast said he was working 89-91 with a very effective mid 70s curve that he used a lot.
Sierra’s line looks very close to what he did last season. Will be interesting if he is given a chance in AA next season. Consistent double digit HR power and infield defense gives him a solid ceiling, but the swing and miss is an Achilles for now.
Straw played over 200 innings at SS this year in AAA. He's played 65 with the Stros. They started teaching him the position last year, and he worked at it over the offseason and in ST.
He's not listed on the roster or even as signed, but Dexter Jordan is apparently in the game for the GCL Astros. Gusto, Krabbe, Plumlee, Martinez, and Nix are the remaining signed draftees who haven't appeared yet.
Another 2-4 day for Yohander Martinez down in the Dominican. His slash line now stands .350/.485/.427 on the year and his .485 OBP ranks 8th in the DSL (there's a three-way tie for 5th). He has cooled off a bit in his last ten games... relatively speaking.
Yohan Ramirez just became the third pitcher in the system to strike out 100 this season. He got there in 62.1 innings.
I have it on good authority that Whitley will be returning to affiliate ball next week. Very excited, also have heard from the same source that FW feels fantastic.
More likely he ends up in a super utility role waiting to be the 3B after Correa leaves and Bregman goes to SS. That assumes he isn’t traded this month.
