Let’s say Les inherited a team where Steve Patterson decided not resign Hakeem and trade him. Zero championships No ClutchFans created Clutch city wouldn’t exist
No the confused fans are the idiots who don’t understand why the rockets are in the situation they are now and other team owners never really want to sell
Les was a good owner... but he didn't really do much to deliver those two championships to Houston. It would be equivalent to saying Tilman was the reason the Rockets won last year (if they had won).
I get it, I really get it...But let’s be honest. Les DID want to win. Did he want to pay the tax? Probably not. Did he want to build the organization up to possibly sell in the future? Probably, but let’s look at some things here... He brought Clyde home to a struggling team and we probably don’t win if that trade does not take place. Sucked in a big way losing Thorpe, but it worked. So I give him some credit for being able to improve the team in order to win again. The Barkley trade most likely would have worked if not for his injury. That team was really strong and Barkley was thirsting for a chip when Clyde pretty must lost his Mojo. I feel like we would have won it all that year. Yes it was beyond awful losing Horry and Sam. The Quitten move sucked, but I get why he brought him in. He was a proven winner, a champion. SP just didn’t quite have the game, drive or Jordan pushing him to be better. Les had the foresight to see that Morey and analytics were the future of the NBA. He also gave Morey unlimited resources in order to do his thing. We landed Harden on Les’s watch. Has it totally paid off yet? Nope, but still few of Paul wasn’t hurt that was another title. MDA was brought in because of Les. Morey seemed to absolutely hate it in the beginning. You know what? Les was right. It totally unlocked Harden. CP3 at the time was a great move and damn near paid off. We should have chip 3. Now, Les did know he was going to probably dump the team, and this would make the franchise more attractive in a sell situation, but it doesn’t change the fact that it was the right move. @tinman ,trust me man I get it. I do. I’ve been ride or die for 4 decades with this team. Tilman is a Houston guy, yes. He loves the Rockets, I truly believe that. But as of now, I feel like it’s more of a status big baller thing. Hey I’m an NBA owner look at me type of thing. So far, I feel like Tilman is NOT willing to do what it takes to win. We may not know unless this team fails and it all has to be stripped down to bare bones. To me it looks like he’s handcuffed Morey and really made his job tougher. Would not surprise me one bit if Morey leaves or gets fired in the near future. I’m more than worried that Tilman seems to think his kid knows enough to have a big voice with the organization. Now, I like that he may one day possibly pass it on and keep it here, but I’m not convinced they know how to win, yet. As of now, no one can definitively say that Tilman will bring a winner or even be capable of doing so. I hope he can. Ride or die.
This is a great post However brand new dumb fans don’t know anything and made some assumptions I’m sure they thought Jordan never played in 1995 too I’m not even a Tilman fan but I respect his passion for the city of Houston. Getting better jerseys is a good start. I think the league caught up to Morey Golden state can do what we do but better. But for some dumb fornite playing newb to say he wants Les back is asinine Les is not interested in buying a sports franchise just probably some lobster rolls @Reeko
Didn't he sell after the playoffs when he pushed the referee? I bet he got sick and tired of the shitty refs and a corrupt league.
I think you’re right about the league catching up to Morey. I still believe Morey can deliver, but sure wouldn’t hurt to have a Jerry West type in his corner. Those are hard to come by.
