He would have been a great fit. At this point Evans, Bradley and Parker are the best proven players still available. There are still some free agents that could contribute if signed. Tucker needs to call up his UT buddy, that duo could lock down the court. Evans has been on Morey's radar in the past.
It is a huge surprise if Rockets made an offer and nobody in the media knew about it. My bet is Rockets even didn't try to acquire him.
why would it be a huge surprise. you dont typically hear about all the other team offers that were on the table for any player. especially middle of the road ones or lower
Evans is suspended for next season. Parker just signed with Atlanta. Bradley just signed with the Lakers.
Crunchtime line-up of Green, PG, Kawhi, Lou, Bev is lit. All five shoot the 3, four are great defenders, three can make plays. Plus the team depth to keep everyone rested.
Because there are news that Rockets are interested in Igudala, Looney, Javal Mcgee etc...however not any about JaMychal Green...this Rockets org. has the track record of licking info about the players who they do not even have any shot to recruit...there is a very low chance that Rockets made an offer or showed interest to a certain player and that escaped the media..or that the big mouth org. suddenly learned secrecy..
Or 3) Rockets are planning a Iman Shumpert sign and trade(with some future picks) for good wing players(Iggy, Covington, etc) so they can't use MLE because it will get them hard-capped. If you are optimistic.
the rockets tried to trade for him at the deadline. its not like they havent been interested in him before. not even sure it matters at this point. he signed with someone else. it would make you feel better if you knew the rockets offered him more but he declined?
I hope that's the case! but its a big gamble. any major addition to the team (Westbrook, covington, Iggy, etc...) would mean we probably don't spend the MLE money, however, big trades take time. the other teams are shopping around, trying to create a bidding war, and may decide that teams will get desperate later in the summer. meanwhile we wait and miss out on good players like green, Morris, etc... then if we don't close the deal we end up with nothing.
It's okay, fans here have convinced me to believe running it back will win us the chip this year. We don't need that bum Faried or Shumpert. They can go to our competition too! CP3 is going to turn back the clock into NOLA CP3 and Harden will average 40/10/10.
So what you are saying is Morey didn't even contact these people to try to get them to sign? I mean can you enlighten us on what exactly the front office did wrong?
No...that’s not what I’m saying. Dodging the tax last year cost them significant assets and flexibility. We are feeling the ramifications of that now.
