I rewatched the play and even if Jake ran straight he’s plowing Lucroy. A Lucroy that doesn’t possess the ball and is in the baseline. Would the same guys defending the call be upset if Jake ran out of the baseline avoiding the tag and called out?
Call was to my knowledge that Marisnick deviated his path to make collision. If Marisnick stays path, he's safe. Considering he deviated his path to minimize the collision, it should have not been an out. Lucroy shifted into Marisnick's deviated path without the ball. If anything, Lucroy should be suspended.
I was on the plane when this took place. I haven't had a real chance to view all the angles of it. I hate to hear Lucroy got hurt personally. Whether he was blocking the plate or not, it's not something i want to see. I don't agree with Brad saying Jake should be suspended. Jake wasn't trying to hurt the guy. Jake was called out because Lucroy got roughed up. MLB has been trying to protect catchers. It's no different than roughing the passer in a sack situation. Not saying i agree with this but unfortunately this is where we are in sports. I'm glad we got the win and now we'll see talking heads rip the Astros because that's how the media is.
I mean LOL but i feel bad. When they showed the walk off HR against the As last year my wife was like “oh, ok now I see why all the “fat” talk
I'm not calling for a suspension, but it looks like Marisnick makes first move to minimize or avoid collision and Lucroy mirrored his move. If anyone was trying to make a collision happen (i.e., deserves suspension), it was Lucroy. Hard to judge Lucroy's intent.
Not going to justify punching a clearly unconscious person but Askren had been talking a whole lotta **** for a couple of months now and Masvidal warned him
I was very busy today and when i checked the score we were losing 7-2. I just had a chance to check again and i see we won. Wow that is awesome!! I don’t even know who did what yet. Going to the box score now. Go Stros!!!
It was one of those moments where we're down four, bases are loaded, our hottest and most RBI-prone hitter gets up, and you're saying, "Man, this is awesome, but it's too perfect. There's no way he's actually going to...<CRACK>". One of those transcendent moments in baseball that you really just can't quite get in other sports. And then we were instantly back in the game. And then four more innings of insanity ensued.
Dammit, Ausmus. If you'd ever actually spent any decent time on third base in your career, you'd know what it was like to be the runner in this situation, and you wouldn't say stupid crap like this.
