Lucroy didn’t do anything wrong per se, but while trying to grab the ball he got in the path of the runner. Jake swerved to try to avoid him and the timing sucked so they collided. Was a clean play. This is not that hard to describe people, or to understand. Should have been safe.
I agree. It looked like Jake made the move to avoid the contact and was as surprised as anybody that it ended up in a direct collision. Lucroy came inside at the last moment and there is no way Jake could have determined his intent there in a bang-bang play. So, run should have probably counted. But, it comes down to opinion on intent.
Only because Lucroy dove into Marisnick... He could have gone outside and avoided him, unless of course Lucroy moves back to catch the ball that Marisnick can't see.
According to MLB rules, the catcher has that inside right and not the base runner. What are you not understanding here? All jake had to do was move outside or just keep running straight right into him. This isnt complicated.
