Deckard, you should not attack Senator Sanders like you are doing. Many polls show him ahead of Kamala Harris and second to Joe Biden who might be slipping. Many People read this board so it is important that you avoid attacking a potential winning Democratic candidate like Bernie Sanders , something that the Russians and others on social media might do to help Donald Trump, who we must defeat.
Bill Clinton gave us NAFTA which as Ross Perot astutely pointed out sucked out jobs to Mexico. That is corporate advocacy, not a Democratic blue collar union labor initiative. Bill Clinton screwed the type of white, blue collar Democrats that the Party struggles to court now. Those are some of the seeds of labor's demise.
Except that it actually didn't. Pretty sure pretending there wasn't a technology boom and revolutionary globalization of industry wasn't going to prevent it from happening. It's as ignorant as Trump promising he can undo the effects of globalization today.
Wage and benefits deflation/stagnation is more like it. Replace a middle class job with 1.x lower wage lower benefit jobs shows a net increase in jobs.
It's actually not that simple here is a good article showing there have definitely been benefits for all Americans from NAFTA. A lot of the blue collar jobs would have been lost anyway. https://knowledge.wharton.upenn.edu/article/naftas-impact-u-s-economy-facts/ While conceding that many U.S. high-wage manufacturing jobs were relocated to Mexico, China and other foreign locations as a result of NAFTA, Morris Cohen, Wharton professor of operations and information management, argues that NAFTA has, on balance, been a good thing for the U.S. economy and U.S. corporations. “The sucking sound that Ross Perot predicted did not occur; many jobs were created in Canada and Mexico, and [the resulting] economic activity created a somewhat seamless supply chain — a North American supply chain that allowed North American auto companies to be more profitable and more competitive.” Moreover, in their 2015 study published by Congressional Research Service, Villarreal and Fergusson noted, “The overall economic impact of NAFTA is difficult to measure since trade and investment trends are influenced by numerous other economic variables, such as economic growth, inflation, and currency fluctuations. The agreement may have accelerated the trade liberalization that was already taking place, but many of these changes may have taken place with or without an agreement.”
Kamala does have a pattern of trying to have it both ways on numerous issues. I think it will catch up with her.
bet u can't name one politician that hasn't done that. the Dems Biden, Sanders, Warren, Mayor Pete, etc; they've all done it. the Donald he said that he had save ObamaCare while vowing to kill it since day 1
