I was thinking about this the other day. Oldsters like us might remember that Antawn Jamison was the consensus best player on his UNC team over Vince Carter. That seems kind of crazy in retrospect. I'm not saying Zion is Antawn Jamison, at all, but maybe RJ got left in the shadows a little bit with all the Zion love this year.
The Knicks have to learn the lesson that you need to build from the inside and not put all your eggs in free agency Especially when they haven’t attracted a good free agent in forever . When was the last time? Latrell Sprewell? Larry Johnson?
Everyone says Harden, he can get his shot and he's a pretty efficient shooter with good range. The first year is usually a learning curve year. He won't be good enough, even with fantastic play to get them close to the playoffs. That's another lottery pick. Even with these two young budding, that may get another lottery player with cap space.
Tinman, you know those were trades...and like at worst possible time. Sprewell trade was while he was still suspending. Larry Johnson trade happened after missed alot of games with bad back. They can't attract free agents. The only free agent signing that meant anything positive. Allan Houston and we'd have to argue about it...Amare Stoudemire. Every other significant player was through a trade or random, quixotic draft pick.
It was somewhat understandable, Antawn looked like a baby Shaq and MJ monster mash up. Though, you could see a little more well roundness in VC's game.
