If anything Capela and Kanter forms a yin/yang duo up front for them. When they need defense, they have Clint on the floor. When they need offense, they switch out for Kanter.
I don't think Kanter will start, but the fact that they didn't sign Cauley or Looney over him, means they're asking for more money, not that this is shocking but, just saying. Oh, and there's still also Noel out there.
Boston's a perfect spot for Kanter. He has two well above average NBA skills (rebounding and inside scoring) and is basically terrible at everything else. He needs a smart coach to put him in a role that takes advantage of his strengths, and some good teammates around him to try to hide those weaknesses.
To be fair, he's had all off-season so far (or, at least since POR was bounced by GSW) to think about signing with Portland. That should have included time spent talking to his agent and other trusted people about possible durations of contract, amounts of money, etc. A bit hard to believe Portland's FO would give a guy only 6 minutes to think about it.
I was certain that they would sign Noel. He backed out of the deal with OKC like he had something else better, and he's from the area, and a good fit. Interesting to see where he goes..?
At this point i think he's might be waiting for the Lakers, they still need a center, and they need a cheap one.
And they say Morey has no human empathy... ... but good for him avoid the Portland big man curse that started with Walton, Bowie, and Oden...
