didn't Morey liked and retweeted a bunch of social media posts about Butler to the Rockets last week?
Sorry but Butler is full of ****. I get this could be a problem for him, but then he would sign with a non-Rockets team that gives him the best chance to win. Instead, he signed with MIAMI of all places. He doesn't want to win. He wants money, fame, good weather and big market. I don't blame him for that, but at least stop pretending like winning matters more than other stuff.
Yes it is, but so is Tilman and Harden. Harden supposedly knows what to do, yet goes out to China instead of being part of recruitment. That already tells you it was never close. And to the point of @Spacemoth in the other thread, Leslie Alexander was just like Tilman: loud, talking about spending when he continuously tried to be cheap, gloating before anything solidified etc.
Need to help facilitate Buxxex to Eastern Conference and acquire Winslow in the process (seems like Heat are trying not to move him)
Yeah I'm not sure it'll even work out in Miami with Butler as the #1. He's not a #1, is barely a top-15 player. He's in a tier with guys like Lowry, Mitchell, Simmons, Booker and Beal -- which is to say he's an excellent player, but probably most productive as a #2. Unless Riley has some magic up his sleeve and is banking on Leonard joining, it's a perplexing basketball move for Butler.
His situation is bad this year, but Anderson and Whiteside's deals come off the books after this year, and there are some other good players down there (Adebayo, Winslow). Maybe he thinks the Heat can attract someone by the trade deadline or next year's FA? In the interim, Butler can be the man, mold the team in his image, play amateur GM in asking Riley to find guys Butler thinks are as competitive as both of them are. And meanwhile chill on South Beach. Beats living in Philly. Or dealing with a bunch of hangers-on from the old 'hood if he were to come here.
And the rumor that the entire team (excluding Harden) but including Paul was up for trade couldn't have helped...
Wow, I totally get it now. This makes perfect sense. Could you imagine how hard it would be to block a few phone numbers and say no to a few people? Jimmy Butler coming home to play in Houston would be like if Lebron James went home to play for Cleveland, 100% impossible!
