The Heat under Riley and Spoelstra the last few seasons have been known as a hard-working team with a lot of basketball grinders. Butler, himself, was a basketball grinder, so it’s easy to see why that culture would appeal to him. On top of that, Riley has a history of luring top players to Miami in free agency, so Butler feels confident that the Heat will add another elite player to play with him in the next few seasons.

That tweet is wrong. There was already a report saying Miami would move Dragic, as long as they are willing to move him it’s a super easy path.

That twitter handle is probably thinking of how hard it would be to get under the cap for them or some silly ****. The S&T pieces are there. Late expiring in Dragic at 19 mill, and good young wings on great contracts in Rich or Winslow at 10 mill. Adds right up to Butler.

If Butler doesn’t go to Miami it would have to be because of one of the following Philly refusing to participate, Miami refusing to move JRich, Miami refusing to move Dragic, Butler preferring to go elsewhere.

The Mavs, Pacers and Suns are in desperate need for a PG, the PG FA market is very weak. Dragic is still very good, and he’s expiring. As long as Mia is willing to move him, it’s easy. If they refuse and say only Whiteside, then it becomes difficult.

Rumors and leaks are just part of the modern NBA. Nobody held a press conference. Nobody from the Rockets organization said we had a done deal.

Confidence in getting a player means you think you’re in a good spot. It’s not embarrassing if it doesn’t happen.

 

Seems like the main debate here is how difficult it would be to move Dragic, a plus player on an expiring deal. Personally, I’m with @ThatBoyNick and don’t think it’d be that tough.

Richardson is clearly coveted. And if they stretch Ryno, then MIA is under the hard cap.

Gordon and Capela are easier to move, but it doesn’t seem too hard for MIA to make this work if that’s where Butler really wants to go.
