Kings or maybe some team wants to do a twin tower lineup.

So does this give more/less/no significance to Nene declining his option?

    Not a capologist.

CP3 has also earned MULTIPLE maxes throughout his long career and is his career's twilight years. Butler however, has not turned 30 yet and is still looking to get paid. Your "hope" was always an impossibility.

Nene's declining of option actually should help us. 1) It increases the free cap space and 2) assuming he doesn't retire, he can sign for the vet min.

I never thought that Jimmy Butler would ever actually opt-in

CP0 did it, but let’s not forget that he got injured before his expected payday, he’s just lucky it was that hamstring injury and not something serious that would’ve severely effected him moving forward...none of us thought that was some real serious injury

KD, Klay, and Boogie all got seriously injured before getting their next contract, and Butler isn’t a KD or Klay who will get maxed regardless

If CP0 got seriously injured, do y’all still think we would’ve followed through with a max deal? We already got Tilman letting it be known that he regrets his contract.

So the default answer to what team can help us, is the village idiot Kings? As usual, good to always have the Kings to rely on.

The Kings sending out a protected first (let’s say top 7) for Capela isn’t a bad idea

Did I miss something? Are Boston no longer interested in Capela?

Him wanting the max is NOT validation that he prioritizes money over winning. There are contenders that can offer him max; GSW if they sign Butler instead of Klay, Lakers who can sign a 3rd star for the max, Philly is a contender with a core of Embiid and Simmons, Clippers if Kawhi / Durant goes there. All stars desire max because 1) it is VALIDATION OF TALENT and 2) it is still a job for them at the end of the day.

Now there are different levels of max however and that's where you can legit make an argument of money over winning. If he signs a max with Suns for instance over Lakers, well that is money and spotlight over winning. If he does a SnT with Miami over Rockets, that's money and lifestyle over winning.

I mean KAT and Capela pairing would be fun since KAT can pick and pop.

Sounds like BOS wants Robin Lopez, I don’t blame them if he’s cheaper than Capela.

ATL has Alex Len whose been solid and Capela would still be an upgrade.

    DAL fits.

There is no "still". You wanting him to opt-in is greediness as a fan. Outside of some Rockets fans, no one expected Butler to opt-in because it is absolute insanity to do so.

its obvious nobody wants to help houston out, i mean they do have the 2nd best team in west down last year regular season. They hit the road block to the finals again. But next year will be harder, so i know thats why morey gonna have to find someone.

That's true, but it's not like i ever said it was a given he would've opted in...it's something i was hoping to see considering what we did with a player with no ties to the team/city etc...

All the news today has been that they have moved on and looking at Kanter, Looney and Robin Lopez.

If Butler had opted in and we promised him a 5 year max he would have made a total of $210 Million.

If Butler does not stay on a 5 year max in Philly he's looking at 4 years at $140 Million. He'd need 2 years $70 million at the age of 34 to recoup the benefits. There is no chance in hell, I'm offering him a contract like that if I'm Houston once this deal is done.

I think if Butler was really about Money and wants to be here as well, he got bad advice, unless Tilman was unwilling to promise a 5 year max after an opt-in, which in that case, we shouldn't have even been chasing him.

If Butler wants to be here, he made it much harder on the team to be successful. I will not applaud a sign and trade for Butler.
