Guess what, she didn't even live here during that era and neither did her parents. Her father, Donald Harris, is from Jamaica and her mother, Shyamala Gopalan, is from India. For her to try to latch on to the civil rights movement from many decades ago is illegitimate and tantamount to Elizabeth Warren posing as an American Indian for purposes of personal advancement. Additionally, similar to Obama, she was raised by her non-black mother. So her connection to the black community and culture was very limited growing up, as was Obama's growing up in Hawaii. Harris is a tough pill to swallow being such a blatant liar and opportunist. She changes positions when it is convenient and deliberately misleads the public to either attack her opponents or obfuscate her positions to the American people. She's smart and capable (or if we're jumping over the current low bar... not varying degrees of a dumbass or lunatic), but man I get some serious Hillary 2.0 vibes from her.
Competent and ruthless: so watch the right try everything possible to tear that democrat down. That's the main similarity between those two women, IMO.
I would hope that the Democrats do that job before the Republicans are forced to. I think she could beat Trump (although given the circumstances that *should not* be a difficult or a huge achievement). But I'm not sure of it, and even if she did, I think she may set the Democratic standard back in the eyes of the country (whereas the Democrats already have a credibility problem).
How could the Democrats possibly do that? If they try, they will be lambasted as racists, bigots and misogynists and possibly Nazis and white supremacists as well. Harris will get a certain amount of push-back during the primaries, but she is also likely to receive a kid gloves treatment that is as much or maybe even more than what Barack Obama benefited from, at least from most of the Democrat left and the Democrat left leaning media.
Only question I have is when Kamala gets the nomination does she get a female to run for VP or a male?

It is the first round of the tactics we saw surrounding Obama. Harris is already receiving the same treatment. Those who dare to say anything towards Kamala Harris are being lambasted as bigots, racists, Nazis, etc. Nothing new to see here. She is running on the race card. In case there was ever any doubt. We will see if it works this time. It might be enough to win her the party nomination. But in the general election, when combined with the super far left positions that she and most of the rest of the Democrat field have embraced, probably not so much.
