Could very well be, if the Lakers get another star and it might look like it....Tilman realizes the championship odds are not good enough... starting to go under the tax.
I mean if we strike out on Butler and the Lakers sign Kawhi (I'm still betting against that) you almost couldn't blame him really.
sure you always try to improve... personally I'd be in the market for a full size pf that can defend, box out and rebound and get us some high % buckets at the rim during crunch time... let him split time with PJ and give PJ some time at sf... plus prob another shooter... Personally, I think we've had a championship roster the last few years but have been foiled by MDAs playoff coaching - or lack thereof.... turn a few of those 0-27 3pt shots into a few made buckets at the rim and you have a totally different outcome.... we had an 11 pt lead at half time.... This last year - run a play... dont just dribble dribble dribble oh 5 seconds left - chuck! Otoh... Tomball Jimmy is a gamble... there's already talk of Harden and CP3 having issues - and we're gonna throw Tomaball Jimmy into that mix... hope for the best... Could be greatness - or could blow up in our faces... thats the kind of high risk move I would expect if we were a middling team - but we've been the 2nd best team with #1 stumbling... right?
and that pf is who? anthony davis? morey made offers as reported, didn't work. here we are the 2017-2018 team was definitely a championship team. unfortunately we all know what happened after GS was put on the brink of elimination
im not talking about a superstar pf... 25-30 mpg guy that splits the position with PJ that gives us an option of more size upfront... I'm not going to claim to know every player/roster well enough to say this guy or that guy... just a reasonable big with some height and defense... PJ does a great job but expecting him to cover these bigger guys all night takes its toll by the end of the season... Now if we swap CC and add a center with more muscle that may mitigate some of the concern as well...
easier said than done tbh. pretty tough to actually put this post into reality when were not talking about actual examples and just hypothetically throwing stuff out there
I think people are clamoring for Jaymychal Green for the MLE but I am sure he will be worth more than that. I would love to add Ed Davis to play Center and maybe some power forward for us. Probably more of a 5 but he had a great year rebounding. Could maybe be had for MLE if we lose Capela?
thats what murray does - or at least he used to... PBev wasnt on anybodys wish list when we got him... who was Clint Capela - that was just a stash pick.... Murray was great at finding diamonds in the rough that were good role players - lately not so much...
I think it's Butler, Horford or we run it back with an MLE signing. Nothing else is realistic, would be silly to expect more.
a little finagling to add Green would may be more beneficial than 40% of our starters for Butler imo... certainly less of a gamble...
With what money? Or what assets? Bev and the like were found at a time when we had money to spend. We no longer have the financial flexibility. It’s minimum guys, our small mle and trades. Trading non stars for stars, at this point, is just about our only avenue for improving.
I'm saying rather than gutting our roster in pursuit of another star... Murray needs to go find some guys to outplay their contract - better than last years signings at least... What was the expression that used to be thrown around? 'We find the next stars - we dont pay for them after they've been found...' or something like that... lol
