Has a Moon (2009) feel to it. Live in isolation, created & cared for by a friendly robot who has been lying, suddenly other people & a horrifying truth. I'm in!
I enjoyed it. There were some logic issues i can't specifically remember that bothered me while watching but it was extremely atmospheric and visually rich. They also manage to generate legitimate tension and uncertanity for the protagonist, instead of just straight conflict which I didn't expect. I guess this should be spoilered, though I'm not specifically revealing anything: Spoiler The big reveal of the main "twist" that the story is built around should be obvious to everyone - they kind of hit you over the head with the symbolism of the mouse in the jar she catches at the beginning - but the second little mini twist at the very end with Mother's final dialog caught me off guard.
Pretty good! Played a little safe though, wish they'd have gone for "more", but the look, sound, atmosphere were all awesome, & no cringy characters/dialogue or anything which is half the battle in sci-fi.
Entertaining. Kinda confused at the end though. So did mother die? Or did mother transfer herself to another droid?
Spoiler Mother turned out to be the Operation System of the whole robot army. They shot just one robot body that has some empathy.
The end was kind of bad and that robot design was pretty awful, but that actress girl was good and it had me hooked as far as choosing who to side with. 6-7 / 10
Movie was okay. Very few Netflix movies are ever great, and this was no different. Decent premise, but I think the ending was botched and it dragged a bit in the middle. 5/10 for me
