I’m giving u facts, possibilities, and things Jimmy said directly...

Why would Jimmy prefer 4 years in HOU over 5 years in Philly? I gave u reasons.

And a lot of wishful thinking. "Maybe he's sick of Philly. Maybe he doesn't like Brown. Maybe they decide they'll be happier in Houston."

I'm not even so sure teams should be hoping for the chance to give him max money. Granted, the Chicago and Minnesota situations had issues, but he's now decided he was sick of two teams and become a massive pain in the ass until they got rid of him. And now he might be giving up on one of the better collections of young talent in the league because of personality issues. At what point does it become clear that the one constant in all of these "bad situations" is Butler?? Along with his age, the miles on his tires, and some increasing injury issues...

I dunno. I think in a couple years a big deal for Butler could look really bad in retrospect.

What makes you think that they don't?

Chicago is horribly run, and the Wolves were a huge joke before he got there and after he left. We’re really gonna blame Jimmy Butler for not liking it there? Who the hell would want to stay long-term in either of those places? Those are still bad situations after he’s left, so how are u gonna pin that on Butler? He didn’t choose to go to Philly, he was traded there. Now as a free agent, he gets to choose where he gets to spend the last good years of his career.

The Rockets need a star, and he is by far their best chance at getting one. HOU isn’t in a position to be acting all choosy. Would I rather have a Kawhi, Paul George, or AD? Yeah, but we’ll never get them. Jimmy is the best we can do, and he fits in well here, provides things we desperately need, and is pretty damn good.

Contracts aside, I still can't fathom why some people would want a 34-year-old Tucker over a 30-year-old Butler.

At some point, when a player has pushed his way out of every situation he's been in, you HAVE to wonder how much is the situation and how much is him. Sure, maybe he's an amazing teammate who just keeps landing in bad situations. But assuming that takes a fair amount of suspension of disbelief at this point.

It's not that simple. I would trade PJ for Butler straight up even though I've grown to love PJ Tucker.

The issue is moving Tucker/Capela/Gordon and bringing in Butler. It makes me extremely nervous about filling out a championship roster.

if it were a 1 for 1 trade of course but that's not what everyone here is talking about.

capela/eg/tucker is without a doubt entirely too much to give up for 1 player. JB is a good player but he isn't good enough to replace all of which is going out

Why's that? It's not like any Western Conf team just demonstrated the perils of relying on a star-laden starting lineup at the expense of reliable bench contributors...oh wait.

I’m sorry, but when your examples are CHI and MIN, then that just doesn’t do much for me

Who wouldn’t push their way out of Chicago and Minnesota? Stop it...

He caused no problems in Philly. If he just doesn’t want to be there and would prefer HOU for whatever reason whether it be his relationship with Harden, being close to home, etc, then that’s his right. He’s not pushing his way out of there, he’s making a choice of where he would like to spend the next couple of years of his career. It has to be Philly for what reason? He never chose to go there...

I'm not saying he's DEFINITELY a bad teammate. I'm saying he has had problems at EVERY stop (yes, including Philly), and you blindly assume he's blameless because you want him to be a Rocket. You might be right, sure, but your basis is hopeful bias rather than facts.

In any case, it seems you are determined to assume this without any basis, so I'd say we're done here. Have a good one.

But why are some of you guys talking about moving these 3 players when it's clear only two would be eventually moved?

At this time of year, rumors are vague and contradictory. I don't think anything is CLEAR right now.

i have no idea. i don't pay much attention to that. I've always thought that its going to be capela/eg going out for JB in the scenario of acquiring him. And I still believe this. But giving up all 3 makes no sense to me. and i dont anticipate morey giving up PJ

I believe there was reporting that one would have to be moved to get a draft pick to send to Philly and then the other two would be needed to match salaries.

Like u assumed Jimmy Butler could be using the Rockets as leverage with your 1st incorrect post?

What facts did u provide? None. What problems did he have in Philly? Name them.

Did I say he was blameless? No, but acting like he’s so bad because he had issues in places like Chicago and Minnesota is just a joke. Have a good one indeed.

Yeah, but as long as we talk about a sign & trade, only two of those guys would've to be moved, not all 3, so i don't get why this is such a big argument.

I hadn't read about any problems he's had in Philly. Can you share more about this? Or post a link?
