This is often overlooked by well meaning people. I'm sure @HTM is well meaning here and genuinely believes that calling everything Nazi like is discrediting the atrocities that occurred during the holocaust. However, as you've stated, people tend to forget that gas chambers and mass executions didn't occur overnight. It took more than a decade of rhetoric before it got to that point and many of those early stage signs are occurring now. This is one of the central premises of Hitler that is quoted from Mein Kampf: " It was and it is Jews who bring the Negroes into the Rhineland, always with the same secret thought and clear aim of ruining the hated white race by the necessarily resulting bastardization" You are seeing very similar rhetoric today by the current administration and the right wing when it comes to "the other" from Muslims to Mexicans. I think these early signs of fascism like ideology is most prevalent in Trump's campaign rallies where he will use a rally as a glorified police blotter just listing of violent crimes committed by minorities and it riles up the hate file jingoist juices of his rally attendees.
That's true. However, "concentration camp" is at this time pretty much exclusively associated with the Holocaust. Everyone knows that and needs to be extremely sensitive to that. Very few are associating it with the Boer War or Cuba.
Do you think the rhetoric and political climate that needs to exist for the level of death camps under the Nazi regime to flourish occurs overnight?
The modern American immigration issue is not about people being anti-immigrant. It is anti MASS ILLEGAL immigration you idiot and these law breakers need to be put somewhere. And we are not dealing with waves of nazis calling for them to be put into work camps and then gassed to death. You and other so called liberals are the most dishonest liars I've ever seen and it's shameful to muddy the waters with the deaths of innocent Jews in order to push your destructive politics.
And neither where the Germans following WWI when it came to Jews, Negros, Gypsies etc. They also were not explicitly asking for the deaths of those people. They did form rhetoric stating that Jews were willingly trying to bring in migrants such as Africans into the nation to dilute the "hated white race" according to Hitler. Seems familiar? It took years before that type of rhetoric formed into tangible death camps.
I will go into detail as to cover why she is called cow farts. First of all, keep in mind, she scrubbed her website where the original post was, but here is an archived link via Internet wayback machine where she refers to cow emissions which means... drum roll please.... cow farts. Thus the nickname: Cow Farts. Thus the meme, in all its glory, was born. And by your attitude about memes, I can definitely say you need to lighten up. Link is below friend. https://web.archive.org/web/2019020...house.gov/media/blog-posts/green-new-deal-faq "The Green New Deal sets a goal to get to net-zero, rather than zero emissions, at the end of this 10-year plan because we aren’t sure that we will be able to fully get rid of, for example, emissions from cows or air travel before then. However, we do believe we can ramp up renewable manufacturing and power production, retrofit every building in America, build the smart grid, overhaul transportation and agriculture, restore our ecosystem, and more to get to net-zero emissions."
So are we supposed to just let everyone in who breaks the law and abandon having a border because some Nazis killed immigrants? I'm sorry but you're being hysterical and such an attitude is childish, destructive, and clearly hyperbolic. I can't take you serious if you are with Lou on that. Yall got roped into the wrong hill to die on. There are even Dems who are calling for the crisis to be fixed and you all sit here obstructing blatant false comparisons.
Yea, I'm not interested in letting you lead me down a convoluted rabbit hole with moving goal posts and some sort of in depth discussion of Trump vis-a-vis Nazi Germany. That's not what I came to say or talk about. I saw AOC compared the detentions centers on the southern border to concentrations camps. I watched the video of the survivor linked above. I think that is wrong. I know quite a bit about the holocaust and the horrors those people suffered. Clearly, when one uses "concentration camp" that is going to illicit images of the holocaust, that is well understood. The detention facilities on the southern border do not resemble the concentration camps of the holocaust in essentially any way at all and trivializes/diminishes the suffering of those who truly suffered in real concentration camps.
Is there a factually incorrect statement here or are you upset that a politician used 'farts' in a non- binding resolution's FAQs page?
So just ignore my point? Again, the Nazis don't own the term 'concentration camps'. It doesn't trivialize their torture. We all know what happened. We all understand the excruciating pain and death in the millions that occurred under the Nazi regime. They still don't own the term 'concentration camps'. Your outrage here is really unwarranted and most likely derived from you already not liking AOC.Honestly, you are trying to find the most offensive take of what she said because you want to be offended by her. There are very striking resemblance to early Nazi rhetoric and actions such as how they treated migrants and the rhetoric towards non-white ethnicities. Watch many of Donald's campaign rallies.
I really don't care, but Cow Farts suits her. I'll be sure to get on you next time you use a nick name and say you're just meming like it's a grave sin. Lighten the hell up. Also I guess you support Cow Farts now since you defended her. Cool.
You care enough to dismiss anything she says with the same memes. Hence it makes it difficult to have a sincere conversation with you.
No nuance is needed. The meme is enough to counter a false narrative as basic as the one you peddled.
I didn't dismiss it with memes. I used her nickname and you got all pissy about where it came from and demanded quotes and I gave you one. I've said nothing dismissive of cow farts themselves up to this point, but the idea of eliminating cow farts and air travel is ridiculous in theory and in practice. Seriously, good luck. You give up air travel and hamburgers. I'll take my cheese burger on the plane next time buddy.
