One thing I have gotta say. When we gave CP3 that massive contract, we did it in good faith on his last year of an opt-in deal with the Clippers to bring him in. Good on us as an organization to honor that commitment even if it may hurt us currently I think it shows some good loyalty to our players. Given this I would be skeptical of him requesting a trade but if it is true then he should give up part of his contract so we can trade him (is this permitted?).

I think there's clearly "tension" or "creative disagreements" or "clash of styles" or "stubbornness". However, the more extreme angle of CP3 demanding a trade and the relationship is "unsalvageable" seems dubious. I'm sure Morey has done his due diligence on the CP3 contract to see what the market is and I'm sure there is internal disagreement on how much "iso ball" we should be running. We are still in a good spot in the Western pecking order at the moment and with a few minor moves we should still be near the top in the West. Let's see what happens.

Nothing more than a weak attempt by rival execs to steal leverage and discourage already interested FAs from joining Beard-CP. It's a compliment, really. They feel threatened in this post-GSW landscape.
