I did not realize Bangladeshi's were flying to Mexico and entering the U.S. via the southern border. You learn something new everyday.
at 12:01 AM, 3 Jun 2019, on the 30th anniversary of the TianAnMan (TAM) Square Protest, where tens of thousands of college students from all corners of the PRC congregated to protest the unfair treatment, in terms of poor dormitory food/lighting of the average Chinese students relative to the children of the elites and foreign student, and the ensuing police cracked down on student protesters, Sec of State Mike Pompei paid tribute to the TAM victims, and called out China, which he said “tolerates no dissent and abuses human rights whenever it serves its interests.” Chinese netizens response to Mike Pompei has been to look in the mirror and read US history books Trump's forced child-separation practice of asylum seekers at the Southern border, made worse by DHS's sleigh-of-hand lies / denials / gas lighting Kent State massacre in 1970, where unarmed college students were shot by members of the Ohio National Guard during a mass protest against the bombing of Cambodia by United States military forces. the anti-war protest in People's Park in Berkeley, CA, where police fired tear gas canisters and “00” buckshot as anti-war protesters https://www.politico.com/story/2019/06/03/mike-pompeo-tiananmen-square-anniversary-1351974 The Trump WH would like to pretend that there was no forced child-separation / chained link fence detention camps, etc, in a way similar to China pretending that the TAM massacre didn't happen japan pretending that the Nanking massacre didn't happen Nazis pretending that the Holocaust didn't happen Turks pretending that the Armenian massacre didn't happen trump pretending that he had never made this comment about Meghan Markle
In addition, Pompeo said, "We urge the Chinese government to make a full, public accounting of those killed or missing to give comfort to the many victims of this dark chapter of history," https://freebeacon.com/national-sec...china-to-disclose-tiananmen-massacre-details/ China's response, "we urge the Trump admin give a full public accounting for the # of children forcibly separated from their parents/accompanying guardians seeking asylum the # of separated children re-united w their parents/guardians. the # of separated children still not re-united
good for them... that's just wrong on some many levels foremost is what kind of state prosecutes humanitarian actions?
People legally entering at the border deserve this. People who might be committing a misdemeanor at the border definitely deserve this. They are, after all, people who want to live in America and have undergone hardships to try and live here. By all means let's damage some children and families!
In Texas migrant children removed from their parents by CPS (under HHS/C) were placed in foster homes, RTC facilities, or with a relative (primary option). Before all this border chaos CPS was completely overwhelmed with children. What is occurring now is utter desperation -- the children in facilities when everything was running smoothly were in a poor environment. This desperation move to Fort Sill is going to be a disaster -- getting information about conditions and child welfare will be next to impossible. Prepare for some horrifying revelations when information becomes available years from now.
apparently the phrase "manufactured crisis" has fallen out of favor among Democrats: Democrats have done a U-turn on their claim from earlier this year that President Trump’s concern about illegal immigration at the southern border was a “manufactured crisis.” Democrats now acknowledge there is a genuine humanitarian crisis and are preparing to pass legislation that would provide as much as $4.5 billion in federal aid to address the surge of migrants from Central America. A surging number of arrests, media reports of smugglers renting children to desperate migrants to help them gain entry into the United States and stories of children dying in U.S. custody have changed the narrative. Earlier this year, Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) accused Trump of exaggerating problems at the border to stoke fear among Americans and distract from the turmoil of his own administration. After Trump issued an Oval Office address to the nation on Jan. 8 proclaiming the border situation a “crisis of the heart and a crisis of the soul,” Schumer and Pelosi gave a side-by-side rebuttal. “This president just used the backdrop of the Oval Office to manufacture a crisis, stoke fear and divert attention from the turmoil in his administration,” Schumer said in the midst of a 35-day government shutdown sparked by a partisan disagreement over funding border barriers. Other Democrats made similar dismissals. more at the link: https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/449214-dems-make-u-turn-on-calling-border-a-manufactured-crisis
This isn't a U-Turn. Democrats have long supported hiring more staff and judges to deal with the backlog and immigration problems. The fact that Trump has refused to hire the staff necessary and is instead pushing a border wall while separating children from their families is a crisis. Whether it reached crisis level because of Trump's policies or made worse because of Trump's policies isn't really the main issue here.
Article misunderstands or misrepresents initial Democratic objections to Trump's migrant crisis claims.
