I don't care about Brian Gaine and already set this will end up working out well if they are indeed getting Caserio. That's an upgrade.
It actually is as simple as this. Watson way too valuable to f with. He could come out tomorrow and say he’s unhappy with BOB and they’d fire him.
I haven't gone through all the pages but I think a lot of the conversation is actually about Bill O'Brien.
Don't forget that Watson *likes* him. You know, unlike all the other players in the NFL who talk about how much they hate their coaches.
No - I'm sure he likes him. Almost all players like their coaches. It doesn't mean the coaches are good or shouldn't be fired.
Gotcha. Serious question - what does Watson like about O’Brien? Is he a players coach like D’Antoni? Does Watson like his offensive mind or player dev skills?
It never ends. You know that. Next year it will be some version of “just wait until ___ gets to draft his guys to help O’Brien! We have a real GM now!” or it will be “O’Brien deserves to see what he can do for Watson with an offensive line.” or “O’Brien isn’t the problem, we need a new DC.” It is always something with the Texans, until they prove otherwise assume something will come up. At this point the Texans need to work on winning a playoff game where they aren’t going against another teams third string QB. Who am I kidding? The Texans are a dumpster fire.
I'm not so sure anymore. Cal's firing Gaine was a clear indication that this is his team and he wants action not excuses. I keep thinking about JJ's response when asked about the firing and his comments have to be echoing in Cal's head. If OB doesn't get us in the playoffs and past RD1, we'll see if Cal is really going to hold OB accountable or not. There is more to do this summer and the next GM is going to have to hit the ground running. #1 - Resolve Clowney situation #2 - See if there are better OL solutions #3 - See if there are more play-makers available in secondary #4 - Monitor RBs, WRs, and TEs in training camp to see if we can run with current group or need some help.
Sprinkles of objectivity, logic, and just proper thread utilization to go with the skepticism would be nice.
The biggest sign of objectivity and logic is thinking people who disagree with you lack objectivity and logic lol
I know this is going to draw the ire of the anti-BOB faction... but Gruden has been in Washington five years and has posted a losing record in 3 of those seasons. Same number of seasons, BOB has 1 losing season - and it was the year nearly every significant player got hurt. I understand your point and it's fair. I'm not sure why they're so enamored with BOB. My hope is that the presumably new front office - one comprised of people who have been with the Patriots a *long* time - will not be satisfied with 9-7 and winning a weak division. I hope it puts BOB on the hot seat.
