4 trillion sounds a lot but our economy and population has grown significantly over the last few decades.

I would argue that we should be using taxpayer more efficiently but a high number doesn’t mean anything on its own without context.

So is a $21 trillion economy....

Likewise a company like Google will have much larger operating costs than a start up.

Umm conservatives generally believe in the free market, which almost always involves paying a worker the market rate or better. So I am not sure what you are referring to.

Who's giving $ to billionaires? Well of course Obama did it most notably. Perhaps also GWB, who started TARP.

Both parties are culpable in this regard.

But you keep acting like a wealthy person shedding his tax burden is some kind of sin. It isn't.

The federal government unable to control its spending -- now that's the "sin."

The federal government is like an alcoholic that can't quit drinking.

But one party acts like deficits are bad when they aren’t in charge.

I suppose you are being sarcastic. I'm well aware that some red states have populations that use welfare more than blue states.

All the more reason to get rid of these programs.

Reduced becauase they were deemed unconstitutional. We we already improving before new deal policies were put in motion.

Maybe you should read books instead of throwing them in trash heaps.

It's so sad to watch people like Bruce and Dachuda go around in circles to try and rationalize what they are seeing. And if what they are seeing doesn't fit, they just change their rationalization. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Well, I tend to throw the less credible ones in the trash heaps. The fad of trying to claim the new deal was a failure has been soundly debunked.

This article from Stanford University is a very balanced look at the New Deal. It talks about the problems as well as the successes of the programs.

Uggh, a simple market fundamentalist. The faith is strong. No need to try to explain.

There's a lot sadder things than a post on an internet forum.

Yeah. "free market" does not remotely apply to America.

    China, America, free trade? haha

The 2019 defense budget is $716,000,000,000. None of that is free market economy. Try to buy a B2 or M1 and find out. Free market = no national defense! Maybe we can each be free to hire our own soldier.

Wanna free market for heroin? Rocket launchers? I find both heroin and rocket launchers to be visually attractive and I would like to collect specimens of each for a personal museum. I'm gonna jump right into the free market about that.

Try running a business without ever filling out any paperwork. It will teach you about freedom when the IRS calls.

How about faith in your fellow man to do the right thing once the means of production are siezed. I am sure they will share fairly and without bias, comrade. Real communism.. I mean socialism... will work even though it always ended in failures... have faith!

I think you could replace socialism with Trump, and it would still be valid.
