    That “point” is patently absurd.

To add to this, Morey is the perfect GM for an owner whose fortune comes from the restaurant business, a business that necessitates penny pinching. All the cold and ever calculating Morey sees is numbers. When he sees that a player's financial numbers heavily outweigh his analytical basketball numbers, that player better start packing his bags.

Right now, he sees that Chris Paul's salary is not commensurate with his production. Not even close. He also knows that the only way for Paul to truly earn his money is for Harden to concede to him. He must know who the winner is of this fight between Paul and his push for more ball and player movement and Harden and his desire to continue his hegemony over the Rocket's offense.

    Something has to give.

I 100% trust in Morey. I truly don't believe he would've signed CP3 to that deal if he couldn't get out of it.

Just remembering the season... Chris Paul was so bad guys. He was bad for all but a few games. I don't care about his injuries, that's out of his control. I don't care about easing himself back in, that's sensible. But where the F was he in the first 5 games of the Warriors series?

I didn’t think he played well in game 6. He was torched early and really only got going when he was playing against a third stringer.

The Bulls would say Yes to that trade, if that was a 28 year old CP3.

Yeah, ESPN needs to build a sanity check into the trade machine.

Yes. Just look how easy it was to get rid of Ryan Anderson. Paul is a better player than Anderson. But, he makes twice as much.

Seems like a lot of first round picks would have to go out with Paul to get anything back in return that would be an upgrade. Maybe we could package Paul with one or two of our more desirable players.

This whole situation could get really ugly.

Which is why you don't sign that deal in the first place (in retrospect). Paul took Morey out the woodshed in that negotiation. He was the major beneficiary of time & place - Morey was under immense pressure to "run it back" and after being up 3-2 against the Warriors, you couldn't not sign Paul.

If the negotiations were this year it would be a completely different story. Rock and a hard place, and we chose the hard place. I think we knew that as soon as it was signed.

Nah, he didn't get torched early, they were scoring on switches mostly.

Regardless, even if he lit it up on both ends, it's just so far from "enough". We needed him and all season people were telling me he was saving it for the playoffs. It was worse than the injury and age excuse allows. He performed poorly. He turned it over a lot, he hesitated a lot, he didn't have the confidence to beat their slowest bigs off the dribble. It was really a terrible regular and playoff season from him.

He can't be mad at anyone but himself. I hope he's slimming down and sharpening the F out of that 3pt shot this summer.

I think the deal was made when CP3 agreed to opt in his last year and defer free agency in the first place. And Morey took the risk to have the opportunity to get Paul in the first place. And I am okay with that. As we all know, it almost worked out last year, and we were still a contender this year. Unfortunately, we are also reaping the downside of the deal.

I don't think its as dire as some do …. CP3 has been a superstar for a decade plus.

He had a down year and you can blame that on Harden having the ball so much.

All it takes is ONE team to believe that he's still a star ….that he can help them.

I really don't think he's viewed the same by everyone else as he is by Rockets fans. They still think he can produce ….

One GM who believes that .... is all it takes.

And really , you don't have to get a star in return , just quality players who compliment Harden. Preferably a wing …
