Forgive me if I've posted the same thing in this very thread (too lazy to check and very busy at work these last few days, but not so busy I can't drop in and waste both your time and mine), but if such a deal were on the table, obviously there would be more moving parts involved. In which case, there would be some believability ("on the verge....in two weeks" notwithstanding).

 

i would trade cp for lauri in a heart beat.

I live in Chicago and circulated this to some of my buddies who are Bulls fans.

Of course you'd like to get useful players in return …. but with that contract , how likely is it you do ?

You do realize that moving CP3 for no returning salary generates about $15.5m in cap space ?

With that you can get a solid player in free agency (A wing?!) then you have the Non Tax version of the MLE to pick up a combo guard with and the BAE to use before you have to resort to veterans minimums.

My plan is more about maximizing Harden's ability to get a shot for himself or someone else while getting the most out of those other 4 guys on the court. With CP3 you aint getting what you paid for unless Harden is on the bench and 30% of your cap space is too big a price to pay for that.

You put the right guard / wing combo with Harden , Tucker & Capela …. and you are likely better than Harden , Tucker , CP3 , Capela and EG who would go back to the bench role in that scenario.
