USA Basketball has its first official commitment for the upcoming 2019 FIBA World Cup. According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, Charlotte Hornets All-Star guard Kemba Walkerhas committed to the teamafter making the All-NBA Third Team during the 2018-19 season. In addition to Walker, there are "strong indications" that Houston Rockets guard James Harden and New Orleans Pelicansforward Anthony Daviswill also commit to the team, which will be coached by San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich. Per Stein, USA Basketball officials also have planned to gauge Zion Williamson's interest in filling one of the 12 roster spots for the team. After a historic single season at Duke, Williamson is expected to be the top pick by the Pelicans in the 2019 NBA Draft later this month. Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell is also gaining momentum as a potential addition to the roster. Assuming all five of Walker, Harden, Davis, Williamson and Mitchell make the roster, there will be seven remaining spots to fill. The 2019 The World Cup runs from Aug. 31 to Sept. 15 in China
Look at this quitter, he’s gonna stand at half court for all the world to see. I bet he doesn’t run off one screen or pass the ball. What a selfish lazy bum!
I think this will be great for Harden, he's going to play off the ball often and will have opportunities to learn how to be effective being in that position. Also, just a random thought but I remember a few years back when Harden was playing in the summer leagues/olympics, and it felt like that team (even with Steph) was pretty much run through Harden.
Recruit Kemba Walker and Anthony Davis, and many others. The Quality young Drafted players is a result of great scouting in the draft. Alfonzo McKinnie, Kevon Looney, Jordan Bell, Quinn Cook Rockets need 6 All Stars, 8 smart, athletic, young role players beat the Warriors PG Stephen Curry SG Klay Thompson SF Kevin Durant PF Draymond Green C Demarcus Cousins SF Andre Iguodala SG Alfonzo Mckinnie C Kevon Looney PG Quinn Cook PF Jordan Bell PG Shaun Livingston C Andrew Bogut
Yea it wasn't the Olympics but it was still team USA. Harden was MVP. Faried was also really good for that team
Harden is going to play this summer anyway, might as well play against and with some of the best in the world. I'm down for this.
Harden needs to cling to Davis and sell themselves as a duo. Just think of the marketing opportunities...Beard + Brow... Look at that, they already have chemistry.
Can I go ahead and put the request in for AD and Harden to be roommates this summer? Darryl Morey will be calling James every night asking him to put it on speaker while they discuss strategic plans to win a 'chip next season. Morey be like: "Oh - you were listening in on that, Anthony? I didn't realize....please accept the ipad I left on Harden's nightstand wrapped up with your name on it as a gift for the inconvenience."
