Yeah, stereotyping voters is a great strategy. In fact, after yall pick a candidate, that candidate should disparage the whole basket. It might work this time.

    Strategy? I'm running for President?

If I was running for president, I definitely would be more PC as you would like and not claim that every single Trump voter who isn't part of the top 1% of wealth earners who just want a rubber stamper for a GOP Congress are dumbasses who fall for the "he talks like me" troupe even though I truly believe it.

I wasn't really sure what an "edgelord" was. Via urban dictionary, "a poster on an Internet forum... who expressions opinions... deliberately intended to shock or offend readers." Derived from "edgy", if I understand it.

45 does seem to Tweet and speak in a way that would excite edgelords, or seems to be a POTUS an edgelord would enjoy, as he constantly upsets and offends people, intentionally.

*shrug* Why is it a problem if someone either insults edgelords on here or references behavior as fitting edgelord mentality, as long as that description seems at least partly accurate?

@Os Trigonum very well knows what "edgelord" means and very well understands the context. He is trying to gaslight because he thinks it's funny. That's it. There really isn't any more to it.

    If they are accurate, yes?

Is calling Hitler an evil genocidal killer an insult if it's accurate? Is calling Trump an edgelord, someone who purposefully tries to rile up division and anger for attention, an insult if it's accurate?

Am I insane for actually trying to explain this to someone who obviously understands what I mean and is just trying to **** around? Maybe.

Seems like a rather appropriate description of 45. Or was this a self-reflection exercise from you where I'm supposed to read this and be like "omg... That's me!"?

Nope, you were trying to make an objectivist, cognitivist argument about Truth (whether you realized it or not), e.g., "Is calling Hitler an evil genocidal killer an insult if it's accurate?" and the article about assholery is precisely about that topic. Surprised you didn't pick up on that.

No, I'm not saying that at all. Are you sensitive somehow about the term "edgelord"? Maybe you've been called that, but I thought someone in this thread was just referring to 45 with that descriptor, for his ongoing behavior. It seems easier than repeatedly saying "45 is intentionally trying to upset people when he tweets X, Y, and Z at 2 a.m."

Separate from 45, but in general, if someone intentionally acts like a troll, I don't think it's an "insult" to call the person a troll. And I presume the person intentionally acting like a troll would welcome it to some extent. Edgelord (from what I can tell -- no expert), seems to even be worn online with a badge of pride. Now, if someone was posting sincerely and was called a troll or edgelord and they were not intentionally trying to rile people, I could see that feeling like an insult. (That may have happened to you -- I've seen people call you a "troll" for some of your sans-commentary links to what I'd call remote content.)

Anyway, the term isn't worth so much time or interest, is it? If you dislike the term "edgelord," I would hope you are equally upset by the term "social justice warrior." They seem to be used in similar ways. Some would be proud of the terms. Others see them as negatives. These terms probably aren't going anywhere. Cheers.

So does Donald Trump often say things to stir controversy such as spreading a fake story that Cruz's father might have assassinated JFK in order to generate press?

Maybe you are offended that I replaced phrases of actions Donald has done with a succinct term for it? Maybe I shouldn't use 'edgelord' anymore and replace the term with the action that is defined by the term? Would you be satisfied with that?

no, but we went through this previously with fchowd in the kid-taunting-the-native-American thread: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/index.php...e-american-elder.295825/page-50#post-12212698

Read down from that post for a half dozen posts or so

I'm not much interested in the subject other than it seems to be a favorite fchowd epithet

Democrat candidate for president John Hickenlooper was booed at the Democrat's California Convention on Saturday for publicly stating that "Socialism is NOT the answer".

John Hickenlooper booed for saying 'socialism is not the answer'

The welcoming cheers 2020 presidential hopeful John Hickenlooper received when he first graced the stage at California's Democratic Convention quickly crumbled into boos and jeers after he rejected socialism as the answer to Democrats' problems.

"If we want to beat Donald Trump and achieve big progressive goals, socialism is not the answer," Hickenlooper said to a crowd of more than 4,500 delegates and observers on Saturday.

Before he could get finish his next sentence, a chorus of boos along with a sea of waving "Bernie" signs overtook his speech, lasting for more than 30 seconds. The moment prompted Hickenlooper to attempt a smile and eventually break from his remarks to add, "You know, if we're not careful, we're going to end up helping to re-elect the worst president in history."

So if you want to be the nominee for the Democrats, it will not help you to push back against socialism.

This could be a teachable moment for those people who are open to such a thing.

    Bwahahahaha!

Biden declares LGBTQ rights his No. 1 legislative priority

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden declared Saturday that the Equality Act would be his top legislative priority, an effort to enshrine LGBTQ protections into the nation's labor and civil rights laws.

Identity politics. So, this is Joe Biden's top legislative priority? Nothing related to the economy, or jobs, or immigration. Not even "Climate change" or election security. But the promotion of homosexual values and culture?

Well, the upshot is, he can talk this talk now and then replace it with other priorities later. But if he makes this a central theme of his campaign, that is not going to help him, even if it is regarded as "Politically correct" to say otherwise.
