Watched it last night at an IMAX screening, it was a good fun summer movie. Wasn't a superfan so didn't recognize all the monsters except the popular ones. Spoiler Action is pretty fast pace, so when the human moments are on screen it's all very trivial and boring. The vibe reminds me of Pacific Rim.
the last godzilla was horrible. Half the movie was all science jibberrish talk. Im being cautious with this one since my 3 year old seems interested
I was really looking forward to this, but I haven’t been hearing great things...time for me to lower my expectations
Your taste in monster movies sucks ass. Did the tiny ladies sing a sweet song to soothe the savage beast? Or was that just for Mothra 40 years ago?
So now these bish critics complaining because they just focus on Monster fighting? That's what Godzilla is all about.
Don't they have a "Godzilla-almost-defeated, feels-sorry-for-himself-for-18-minutes" type scene between the fights? Like, Godzilla's monster buddy dies, and Godzilla is off to himself, rubbing dog tags together, "talk-to-me-Goose" type stuff, before jumping back into the fray ("GODZILLA'S RE-ENGAGING, SIR!")? Would that have made the critics happier?
Looking forward to hearing all of your reviews. I want to see it badly and just saw it's 41% on RottenTomatoes. Damnit.
Just go in knowing Godzilla looks like a damn G. Give me kong vs Godzilla now!! surprisingly enough Ken Watanabe and Zhang Zi Yi gets a lot of screen time, even more than Godzilla himself, lol. Better than the 2014 one for sure
RottenTomatoes is for snooty movie reviews. You have to set your expectations for monster movies and not expect Oscar worthy performances or writing. That’s not why you’re there, because this is a straight up popcorn movie. It’s not especially deep, or believable, but it’s chock full of action and monster fights. If you love action movies and think the Fast and Furious is high quality then you will like this movie. If you love Godzilla this won’t disappoint. It has TONs of Easter eggs for Godzilla fans. Godzilla is badass and King Ghidorah is also badass. If you loved the Transformers live action movies you will think this is the best thing since the newest flavor of Monster Energy drink came out. If you thought Transformers was terrible you will probably like this movie because it’s much better (except less barley legal t&a). It’s a fun movie, it sets up the entire Monsterverse, especially GvK next year. I have a few mild gripes but I will say it’s definitely worth a watch in the theatre and I will absolutely watch it again when it hits streaming. Edit- Audience score on RT is 90%. That’s what I would go with. Edit 2a forgot to mention that there’s an entirely new Stranger Things trailer attached to the movie!
No character development and deep dialogue? I’m out. Really want to know what causes Godzilla his internal pain.
