Verlander needs to be the veteran and have a talk with Correa about staying healthy while banging models.
They can win 19 of the 27 games in June as is. Reinforced by July 11th, after the 3 days off from the All star break. Completely doable, it just sucks because if you love baseball you love stats , both Springer+ Correa were looking like MVPs only to be struck down yet again. On the bright side there were similar posts like this in 2017.
Don't you guys think that what y'all keep calling "Luhnow and Hinch are pissed" is more likely just frustration at the timing of having 3 All-Stars and 3 important role players go on the IL in the matter of a couple of weeks? Could've happened during a morning workout. Could've happened because of a slip and fall. Could've happened any number of ways that are out of Correa's or anyone else's control.
What's the Treatment? Most broken ribs take about 6 weeks to heal. While you’re on the mend: Take a break from sports to allow yourself to heal without hurting yourself again. Put ice on the area to relieve pain. Take pain medicine like acetaminophen or ibuprofen. If you need something stronger, your doctor may prescribe something for you. Take deep breaths to avoid pneumonia. A lung infection is the most common thing you can get with rib fractures. Your doctor may give you a simple device to encourage you to breathe deeply. Don’t wrap anything tightly around your ribs while they’re healing. You don’t want anything to limit your breathing. We might not see Correa back in the lineup and hitting with authority for 8 weeks
“Watson was asked about playing with a broken rib and partially collapsed lung in victory over Bills and said everything “was fine” and he wasn’t in pain. Teammates knew he was in a lot of pain.” Can’t believe he could play with a cracked rib. Had to be very painful.
If any of the above happened then why not just say it? How hard is it to say I got hurt while working out at home and such. The fact nobody really knows mean Correa really ****ed up
I'd assume 8 weeks. I will actually be shocked if we see either him or Springer back in the bigs significantly before August 1st. Altuve I'd guess July 1, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was the all star break.
It's weird to read and sounds crazy... but I will say that I had my deltoid torn by a masseuse once. Painful, frustrating, and stupid.
Just had a thought- How incredible would it be if all three of the guys were actually on about the same timeline- and ended up going down to RR or Corpus at the same time (overlapping) on rehab assignments. I'd bet most of them end up with a 5-7 day rehab trip if they really are out a couple months. Can you imagine showing up to a AAA ballpark some day and looking at the linup card and ******** yourself when it goes something like: Springer Altuve Correa Tucker Alvarez Stubbs Toro Reed Someone (not sure who). It wouldn't be Mayfield, Fisher or Straw if those guys were rehabbing as I'd imagine they'd still be with the big club- but damn- that'd be amazing right?
Technically that doesn't help him prevent broken bones. Maybe he gets those kind where he gets walked on. I don't buy it, but I can't say it is impossible.
