Cavs ended up shutting him down to tank

How many stars is that now rumored to be going to the Lakers? I’ve lost count.

    Messi to Lakers confirmed?

that was the plan this season but he hasn't played 70 games in 2 years, and only played more than 70 games in half of all the seasons he's been in the NBA. and even if he plays 70+ gams next year he's not a great matchup against the warriors.

If they can trade for Butler and snag Kuzma in the deal then I say go for it. Start harden at the point bc... why not?

    Harden
    Butler
    PJ
    Kuzma
    Capela

Kuzma would give me pause. He would be sick with Harden...

I only listened to the first 3-4 minutes and they were just sharing opinions at that point, but if you listen carefully, there's no news report. He uses the word "suggested" and says the texts he got on it were "Let's say Daryl Morey calls and proposes this..."

Definitely speculation. Still interesting and glad you shared it.

I'm not sure the Rockets are trying to move Paul. I think he'll be better next year than he was this year. However if you do move him, the Lakers make a lot of sense.

Its easy to imagine - they would stand and watch him iso and then bail him out on d. Theyd look same as CP actualy

It wouldn’t look bad at all if Harden wins the championship. With CP3 current contract and this past years performance, I have No hope for the championship dream.

Anyone in the NBA can have him for any package not including John Wall if it's up to me.

Even if the immediate trade reduces the talent on our roster, it would allow us to fix it the very next morning.

If there's any chance we can trade him and Harden is not annoyed about it, don't hesitate. That contract is a handicap on our ability to win a title.

Unfortunately it's radio rumors and anyone with any actual interest would immediately deduce that the Lakers literally have no contracts above the minimum except the young core and Lebron. So if they are taking him, they are absorbing him into cap space. They would not be able to get any other max FA nor trade for anyone without including 2 of their young core players.

Can any cap experts out there explain how this would work? Would a 3rd team have to send enough salary to the Lakers then trade those contracts to Houston? I’d assume a team like Miami who is looking to stay below the tax and maybe rebuilding would be a possibility?

I realize that this is very unlikely to happen. I’m just curious about how this would work with the Lakers having so many cheap contracts.

Not sure there's anyone on the Lakers I'd trade CP3 for.

that CP0 albatross deal is 1 of the biggest reasons we might not win a title moving forward

he’s declining and getting paid like a superstar...his deal makes it so damn hard to improve the roster

If Morey wanted to trade CP3 thats the type of trade either everyone knows about it or nobody does. No way CP3 talks go under the radar unless they are completely under wraps.

But yeah the lakers would make sense if they were open to it which I doubt. Just sounds like some speculative thinking.

Can we just use CP3 as a point guard and move Harden to shooting guard. CP3 needs to bring the ball up everytime. stop with the ISO offense and switch to a motion offense.

Cap is not an issue if Clippers want to help Rockets out.
Rockets land Ja Green, Wilson Chandler, Beverley and Temple
    Clippers land lance, Rondo
    Lakers land Paul.

But Clippers are unlikely to help Rockets out because Clippers want to defeat Rockets in the playoffs.

Steven A said Clippers could add both Durant and Kawhi.
I believe that Clippers just need to add one star to win the West.

    No it wouldn’t.

    “Any trade” wouldn’t fix anything.

Some trades would open up more flexibility and then you are right back where you were the first handful of years of harden...trying to convince a star to come here. You could waste his entire career trying

How can he be better at age 34, my gut says he will be more of the same of what we have been seeing, which is glimpses of the last year only to follow stretches of games of what we saw in the playoffs and tail of the regular season. Trading Chris Paul at this stage is our best bet at a championship.

You trade Chris Paul and lose his 40 million and hope to get another star player to come alongside Harden in FA as shown twice previously. If not you try your best the following year with reasonable assets possibly some from a CP3 trade and draft picks etc etc and go all in on a legitimate primed player possibly AD? Morey has done everything but give James a primed player alongside him. CP3 is definitely trending down and it hurts us for the next 2 years. Rebuilding isn't necessary but retooling definitely is. Harden is 30 and has another 3-4 seasons of superstar play left in him. Even a Bradley Beal offers this team more than CP3 does at this juncture,

I think you trade now where he isn't still a complete liability and try getting a prime player with good complementary pieces. In all honesty without CP this upcoming season I don't think it would change our season outlook by much.
