The guy who got swept by the same Warriors? And got swept by the Pelicans in the first round last year? Begone Blazers fan...
Exactly. Movement actually makes players look better than they really are. A great role player like George Hill, for example, looked great on the Spurs, terrible on the Cavaliers, and great again on the Bucs. That's all because of the offense that those teams ran. It's amazing what true involvement and trust on offense will do to the play and confidence of players. However, uber talented players have to be willing and able to sacrifice and trust in those types offenses. I'm not sure if Harden is willing AND able because it takes more than a willingness to do this. Right now, it's EASY to play the way he's playing because he dictates so much and other players don't have the freedom to move out of certain spots on the floor so he knows where his outlets are. This discussion is interesting to me because I love Harden as a Rocket, I think he is amazing and what he does is incredible, multiple MVP winning type stuff. But I could also recognize that it isn't the type of basketball that will win championships because it isn't a particularly smart brand of basketball and it aggrandizes only one player on a team sport.
CP3 is DONE. Let's not act like he's elite. You guys are pulling at straws for things to nitpick the guy. We just can't beat the Warriors, no shame in that.
The perception of us is that we incessantly whine about calls, Harden flops a lot, too much ISO, etc. There was a piece I read why we are the most disrespected team And the writer defended us only to be lambasted by people who commented. It was hard to read the level of hate.
Disagree. The rockets actually still played well when harden rested and cp3 was in. The rockets were terrible when both were out, indicating that cp3 is still a hugely positive player even if he's not at his peak
Yes the guy the guy on a less talented team but COMPETES & wants to win at all cost. You're satisfied with a quitter?
I will take the guy who has had better results, (7 game and 6 game series against the Warriors, two WCFs, and beaten other teams vs the guy that has gotten swept two seasons in a row, one of them to a cupcake Pelicans team). Ryan Bowen used to compete and wanted to win at all cost. Thanks for the offer though, lol.
Results? Harden has more help & that's not even debatable. Put a player like Lillard in a MDA offense, with Morey as GM, and we'd be just as good. The difference is our superstar wouldnt be quitting in big games. You're okay with quitters?
Lollard: 36% shooting, 22 ppg for the series and a sweep. Harden: 44% shooting, 33ppg for the series. You are right, Morey is a good GM, which is why he is going to hang up if Blazers call the Rockets asking for a Lollard-Harden swap. Like I said, begone Blazers fan.
I understand your ignorance as a boxscore stat watcher. But outside of 95% of the offense ran through Harden (which is why his numbers are so inflated), this is about HEART & the will to win. You posted Harden's statline, but you didn't mention him taking ONE shot in the last 7mins of game 5? You didn't mention him barely making it past midcourt, publicly sulking because CP's initiating the offense in games 5 & 6. Let's not forget him quitting game 6 against the Spurs. Since when do fans celebrate quitting? Must be a new generation thing
Despite Lollard not "quitting" he has been swept three playoffs in a row, two of them in the first round. 2017 first round by the Warriors. 2018 by the Pelicans. 2019 by the Warriors. If you count the 2016 playoffs, Lollard has one ONE game against the Warriors in three different series, for a a record of 1-12. Ouch! Like I said, I will take the "quitter" with the better results. You can celebrate your sweeps lol. I understand your ignorance thinking 8 point shooting % difference is about offense being running through and inflation among other things, which is why I will let you start a poll and see what most folks think about a Harden-Lollard swap.
His team was swept. The Blazers are not the Rockets & one of their best players is out for the year. How many clutch shots has Harden hit like this in crucial playoff games? Remember this: Or Who has the better post season track record again? There's a difference between losing & quitting
If you count the 2016 playoffs, Lollard has won ONE game against the Warriors in three different series, for a record of 1 win-12 losses. Yeah..nice track record lol. In the three playoff series against the Warriors, Harden is 7 wins-12 losses.
Who cares why he stands around? I mean... it's a relevant conversation if you want to get into the gritty details. But I don't care. I just know it doesn't really work in the post-season and needs to stop.
Harden as a Rocket: 37-36, 6 Series Wins-7 Series Losses Lillard: 19-32, 4 Series Wins-6 Series Losses
lol Better playoff track record he said. Math FAIL by that Blazers fan. As bad as it is, Lollard's track record would have been even worse had Nuggets not decided to tank as a 2nd seed to avoid the Rockets. He got lucky with an easier bracket because of Nugget's shenanigans.
Harden has to deal with a bunch of flunkies that don't have the b-ball to set picks in situations where the defense isn't going to allow him to get the ball or get free in general.
