When it comes down to it there are few in our bullpen that don’t give me pause late in the game (basically everyone other than Pressly and Osuna).
IMO, this is the most disappointing game of the season. A wasted Verlander start, two errors, poor pitching, anemic hitting. All on the Memorial day weekend at home. Oh well, we won the series.
Can't win em all. Hopefully we can get things going again, but what a wasted start. Pathetic hitting. This BS of arbitration/super two and stuff needs to be addressed in the next CBA, sad how talent gets held up, and then underpaid for some time once they finally reach the big leagues.
No idea what they'll do. They have no backup infielder on the 40 man, but they do have Kemp. I'd start him at 2B every game until Altuve's back. Altuve is playing in Nashville tonight with the Express, and will play 1 game of the doubleheader Monday. Then they evaluate.
Everyone's tired of White. The Astros included. Believe it or not, like it or not, there are reasons why he is still on the team right now. See what they do with Altuve and the Diaz DL situation, and if White's on the team in a week come back and talk to us.
Yeah I totally agree on playing Kemp at 2B. It’s time to bring Alvarez up. There is really no excuse. Yuli can also play 2B or 3B and I’m sure Bregman could too. I don’t think the need for a middle infielder is really that dire considering Altuve will likely be back in the next 2-3 days.
Before this series began, I would have been satisfied with 2/3. Despite meeting that, I dont feel satisfied. Or perhaps its the mounting injuries that have me off feeling about this series. In any case, lets crush the Cubs (whoever they are).
Someone has to go down when Altuve comes up in the next couple of days, so maybe they just bring up Altuve tomorrow.
Derek Fisher is not long for the big league roster. They probably won’t bring up Alvarez due to super 2. Probably going to be Mayfield for a couple games. However Kyle Tucker has been mashing lately and his season stats look a whole lot better than they did a month ago.
Is there anyone besides Marisnick that plays CF? I assumed that was the reason Fisher was up. But if they'd feel comfortable with Reddick (or Kemp?) out there, then yeah, Tucker would be a good fit. Either way, I think the team really relied on Springer as the sparkplug - haven't scored more than 5 runs in a game since his first injury. They need to try to fit a Tucker/Alvarez bat to fit in somewhere and see if they catch fire, but I'm fine with them waiting a week or two as needed for Super2 issues.
I'd really hope they err on the side of caution with Altuve. I wouldn't mind if they don't bring him back until the roadtrip after the off day Thursday, but they've said they'd like to get him in a game during the Cub series. Not sure how the Diaz situation changes things, but they've said they want him to play at least 2 back-to-back days with RR before they make any decision.
Kemp and Fisher, and yes, that's why they brought Fisher up. eta: Reddick was forced to play center for a few games in '17 and it was not pretty at all.
