I think James is going to be really really good for at least 4-5 more years

He might only be great 1-2 more

Maybe if we don't win during his first supermax , he will give us a discount and try to help us have cap to bring in another star

It happens to everyone who lives, KC. It'll happen to you someday. We all slow down.

    That's because he's a living god!

Seriously, I think the idea that Harden hitting 30 is some sort of earthquake, a signal of our coming doom is absurd. If anything, the way Harden plays should make any drop off more dependent on his health than his age over the next few years, in my opinion.

We're not DOOMED but it needs to happen soon -- who thought Melo at 30 years old would be out of the league 4 years later?

At least we won't hit the repeater tax when he turns 33.

Because we are Luxury Tax Savings champions and no one can take that away from us.

    "But Jordan wasn't there."
"But if we had Iggy, we sweep."

Nope, Rockets won the LTS championship fair & square!

I get your point. We need to surround him with a team that can get to the Finals. We don't have forever. What we had this past season exposed our lack of depth. CP3 needs a good backup because he is getting noticeably older and I think he would be more effective with fewer minutes. Four or five years ago? Run him out there as much as you reasonably can.

Something I've grown to not be crazy about is MDA taking turns with Harden and Paul running the offense, with limited minutes together. Paul can't be expected to carry Harden's offensive load. He should be getting the ball to scorers, and shooting when he's open. I'd also like to reduce Harden's minutes. Not because of his age, but because he was playing heavy minutes during the season, partly due to not having a good backup, and partly because Paul didn't have one, either. James was carrying an incredibly heavy load for a long stretch of the season with CP3 out. It was amazing to see as a fan, but it took its toll.

He was getting hammered in the playoffs and replacing him with Paul, who's a pure point, wasn't effective enough, in my opinion. Rivers is nice off the bench, but I think we need a better backup for Harden, just as we do with Paul. Rivers was expected to be a backup point, a backup shooting guard, and a backup wing. A jack of all trades, and a master of none. Unfair to him, in my opinion. Other than that and a few other things, we don't need much. ;-)

damn, time really does fly...he should probably give it 1 more year here and then if it’s just more of the same then start looking elsewhere if he really wants to win a title and not just put up big numbers carrying role players and getting bounced in the 2nd round or conference finals

He should give it more than a year, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was looking for a trade before his year 33 season if we are trending downward and no ring.
