Plus they get to continue the Straw at SS project, which has apparently worked out better than anybody expected.
With the super 2 to consider. I think they will bring in Fisher for another test run in the bigs, even before they bring back Tucker. Fisher really is playing well at AAA too. Alvarez, Tucker, and Fisher are really doing themselves a good showing at Round Rock.
Maybe they just prefer Fisher. Fisher has had a solid year with the bat and glove. He can run (he is faster than Straw), he can play the field and he brings power potentially. Maybe Fisher has figured it out.... or maybe he will be sent back down in a couple weeks.
Good point in that options for Straw are more important than super 2, but don’t you have like a brief 10 day or 20 day call up where they aren’t triggered, or am I misremembering that?
Straw is already on the 40 man, so his option is already used this season. Calling him up will have no effect on that. They probably just think that Fisher might actually be able to hit in the majors right now, so he's the better player.
The last pitcher from the 2018 class Miguel Figueroa now shows up on the Corpus Christi roster, replacing Brandon Bielak who got promoted to Round rock. Marty Costes got his well deserved promotion to Fayetteville. Also this happened.
I'm not sure what in there leads you to believe I'm not correct, but straw was officially optioned on March 19th, and as such this was an option year for him 20 days into the season.
I thought you had to be called up on in order to be optioned back. I didn't realized simply not making the roster out of spring training counted as an option.
Stubbs hit a dinger today (his 4th). Hope to see him up soon, and with Stassi hurt, looks like we may. Honestly, it's about time. Stassi = Trasshi.
Abraham Toro just hit a three-run homer to tie the game in Corpus. Toro now has 9 home runs on the year.
