So you wouldn't take Anderson's contract , Olynyk and Winslow for CP3 …. Anderson's expiring is gold at the trade deadline.
Yeah , I think so too …. Rivers , Faried , GG ,Shumpert , House all free agents that I wonder if they are able to keep any of and you really cant expect to replace for the minimum. They can dig themselves out of it IF Tilman is really willing to pony up the bucks like he said. They can create two pretty big expiring contracts with Shumpert's bird rights and GG's early bird … which would be movable after December 15. Big financial gamble ($25m+)…. but really their only avenue to add significant salary / talent other than the T-MLE.
This is the only reason why i brought this up. Pay riley would probably not do this, but hey you never know, Miami floating in the air with no star. What would houston get back, would be deciding factor for sure...
It was a good question …. despite others refusing to even consider it. If you can get out from under 3 years of CP3's declining play and increasing cost , pick up a $20m expiring and a couple starter quality players , I call that a win all day. Father time is undefeated ….
While CP3 has a massive contract, most here underestimate how valuable he is, and how much he still has left. Chris has always been prone to injury, perhaps a bit more now, but he's still the best in the game at running an offense. He still possesses the best mid range game out there. And, he hasn't lost his shot either. He was forced into taking deep, out of rhythm shots....not in the flow. There needs to be more of a balance between him and James. When it's ISO City all the time it takes away what makes him so great. His D might not be what it was, but is still more than adequate when you take into account the team aspect of it. CP3 is a true leader out there, whether it's working the officials or getting our guys on the same page. 40 million/yr is outrageous at face value. But, he is paid for what he's done....when we should have won the title....what should have happened last year. And, the offcourt impact..So many intangibles that go beyond what most think of.If we're to have any chance of being allowed by the League to take down GS, Chris is a necessity. Also, guys will come here for chump change for a shot at the ring, and playing with him. they know they'll get it how, and when they need it. I, for one am both glad, and proud that he's a Houston Rocket. All that said, in spite of that contract, he has a lot more value on the market than folks are giving credit for.
harden is in his prime and we just wasted this season on tax savings. I'm not interested in cap relief and role players for CP3.
