I am not a doctor. My uninformed opinion says Springer has a Grade 2 hamstring injury and will be out 4-8 weeks. A grade 3 that would sideline him 3 months and possibly require surgery seems unlikely to me, as he was able to walk himself off the field.
In Toronto tonight, perhaps the first time in MLB history two sons of HOFers played on the same team. Biggio and Guerrero
Yeah probably the most talented Astro ever. Between blowing his girlfriends face off in a hotel room and doing mountains of blow; he was washed up by 26 but still managed to be the best fielder in Astros history.
I remember him, of course, but I was under 10, so it is fuzzy. There was a lot more ground to cover in the Astrodome for sure.
This is my guess as well. I said on the minors thread that looks like somewhere between 30 and 60 days. If it’s an 8 week injury that puts him back around the trade deadline in late July. Plenty of time to get back in the groove before the playoffs, quite frankly this team could weather a bunch of injuries and still win the division, it keeps him fresh for the playoffs, and gives them a chance to take an extended oook atbsome guys who have proven all they need to prove in AAA. As long as it’s over and done with in 60 days as you’d expect from a grade 2 there are some real silver linings to this happening right now. But it really sucks for George, the guys and the fans as he was finally putting together all his immense talents in an MVP caliber campaign. Get well soon George.
He had a phenomenal 28 game stretch for the Cardinals at age 34. (82 plate appearances) .434/.463/.750/1.213
Just came by to say it’s preposterous how easy our 2nd half schedule is compared to our first. We have a great record, have dealt with injuries and played a brutal schedule.
Wish they had some better competition deeper into the schedule. Don't want to be cruising on auto pilot the rest of the season until the playoffs.
IMO, the only reason you call up Fisher over Tucker or Alvarez is because you don’t think Springer will be out long.
No. Alvarez and Tucker will not be called up until the Super 2 deadline on them passes. Alvarez sometime in June, Tucker some time in July. If Fisher becomes what we thought he was going to be a couple of seasons ago, then I expect only one AT MOST gets called up this year before September.
