Moral victory? The Rockets lost, plain and simple. They lost because they weren't good enough to win. If the Warriors had lost to the Rockets. That would have been choking. But, they didn't choke. The Rockets have never been as good as the Warriors.
if the warriors lost to the rockets, it wouldn't have been considered choking. Houston would never hear the end of the they were injured stories. Not that I would care but nobody would be calling it some choke. injuries would be the headlines all over the place No cousins, steph's dislocated finger, no kd, iggy knee sprain blah blah
Just a hypothetical question. In this scenario team A has the more talented team. Team A is losing by 8 points with 1:10 left in the game. Team A decided that they need to foul. Team B has an 88% free throw shooter. They are able to inbound the ball to their best shooter. He bricks the first 2. Team B hits a 3. They foul again, he bricks both again. Team A hits another 3. 2 point game with 27 seconds left. Team B gets the ball to their best player who steps out of bounds. Turnover. Team A hits a 3 with 5 seconds left. Team B doesn’t even get a shot up due to another turnover and loses by 1. Did team B lose because team A was better, or did team B choke? I ask this because the logic seems to be that since GS has more talent, that it’s impossible for our guys to choke. So by this measure MDA, Morey, Tilman ect should also take no criticism because hey “ It’s the Warriors “. CP playing like crap in game 5 really didn’t matter because “It’s the Warriors” right? Nothing he could have done would have mattered. The way you have framed your arguments make it seem like it’s impossible for a less talented team to “choke” no matter the circumstances. I only asking for more clarity.
OP is a pathetic fan. Let's review facts Durant their 'best' player? The facts show that the 'DurantLESS' Warriors won an NBA record 73 regular season games on their way to a championship. EXACTLY The reason why so many people detest Durant for simply piling on to an already STACKED team. I don't even know if Durant could be called their 'best' player. He's just a wimp who couldn't beat them and joined them instead. Obviously he's not their most VALUABLE player as we've seen they don't miss a beat without him. (You can add Cousins to that list as well) As for the Rockets: - ONLY TEAM in the NBA to take a playoff lead against GSW during Durant era (3-2 last year before CP went down) - ONLY TEAM in the NBA to take GSW to 7 games during Durant era (last year) - ONLY TEAM in NBA to tie series with GSW during Durant era (this year) - Arguably had G1 rigged by referees this year to dampen our start (reminds me of the Gladiator movie when the Emperor stabbed Maximus in the back to hamper him and make a good show of their fight) I'm frustrated we didn't get over the hump and finally put one over on these guys for sure. But am I ASHAMED and feel like we choked against one of the best teams of all time? NOPE We were the underdogs he whole time and always have been. With 3 All-Stars still on the floor (who have played like Champions the last 5 years) we were still outmanned and outplayed by a VERY good team. No shame in taking the heavyweight champ 10 rounds and going toe to toe.
Harvey had ZERO to do with why the Astros won the World Series. Zip. Nada. It just made for an emotional story for media outlets to fill time with. Might as well believe what socks and underwear you have on impact what goes on in between the lines. The Astros won DESPITE Harvey disrupting their regular routines...not because of it.
Choking would imply being ahead and giving up a lead. We neither lead the series ( remember we were down 0-2) nor were we favored. When KD went down, did we take advantage? No. That's not choking that is no heart, fire or basketball IQ These rockets are not worthy of being choke city.
Right, because socks and underwear are dramatic events. Astros winning again would help.. preferably in blowout fashion like BOS did last season.
There’s only three things certain in life: death, taxes, and the Rockets losing to the Warriors in a playoff series.
Gordon blew that layup late which is a shot he was more than capable of sinking. The worthless technical by EG kinda got curry going. They choked in elimination game with the unforced errors from every rockets star from the big 3. The term choke implies that you left shots that were never taken or self sabotaged one's own destiny. The turnovers left pushed rockets into bad situation. First, the harden push off which was whistled offensive. No shot taken. Second, Gordon fouling curry 40 feet from basket. Third, Gordon failing to score last six minutes game six. Fourth, cp3 arguing running back down court causing three long shots for warriors.
Sucks when you start in October but know it doesn’t matter until May/June. Guess you could say the same about Baseball. But no Warriors in baseball. Win division and you have a decent shot.
ChokeCity, nah. ChumpCity, maybe. Blaming the refs and making excuses is weak sauce. They were just better than us (without Boogie and KD)
