It still wouldn't have hurt to put that into the bill, at least Georgia did that much.

What do you think of a mandatory Paternity law to accompany this abortion law?

No real man would but it brings to mind this little tid bit if they have taken away a women's right to her own body and she is given no choice but to have the child are we now living in a controlled state where your body is no longer yours and can be subject to any law that is passed by the government .Just asking

Yes, if only a few people are prevented from getting rid of a month old group of cells even though it is because their uncle of father raped them, then that's okay.

Incest and rape might be about the same percentage of abortions as late-term abortions.

    https://reason.com/2016/10/21/late-term-abortions-in-america-2016/

Partial birth abortions are already illegal.

I don't have a problem with abortion being legal.

I would never, subject some extreme circumstance, ask/want/wish for one done involving my relations but I think as a matter of public policy its probably the only sensible solution.

However, I coming right out of the gate with the "rape and incest" stuff is garbage. The vast vast majority of abortions have absolutely nothing to do with rape or incest. To put that at the forefront, to me, is disingenuous.

    A reminder...

senator susan collins, defending her support of supreme court kavanaugh...

Brett Kavanaugh Is Already Done Pretending He Respects Abortion Rights
And Susan Collins is to blame.

This will cause more abortions, not less.

If Conservatives are so worried about abortions then why do they also try to take away contraceptives and make them harder to get?

This isn't about the life of unborn babies, this is some lame attempt at trying to get women to be more chaste.

Sure, the "group of cells" deserves a death sentence in that scenario.

So if it is such a small percentage why not make it legal?

As I pointed out, late-term abortions are also a tiny percentage, and partial birth abortions are illegal. So the bringing out those cases in favor of outlawing abortions must also be disingenuous, right?

A law making abortion illegal will cause more abortions?? Yea that is sound logic.

Also who is trying to take away contraceptives? I have never heard that as a political platform. Do not confuse Catholicism with conservatism.

Well, laws that attempted to curb the mentally ill from getting guns along with talk to raise the age to do so did cause people to buy more guns...so there's that.

Is that what you know about the blood and my head? LOL

Yes, people who pushed for the law did bring up late-term abortions. @cml750 calling them unborn children means late-term abortions.

Pregnant women in Alabama should be allowed to claim child tax credits and increased welfare, especially if they're a pregnant minor, if their 6-week old fetus is a fully-formed human, right @cml750? Surely the expansion of existing rights to the born should be extended to the unborn if they're equal?

There's plenty of data on this, it's not a mystery. Women that want abortions will still get them. Instead, it will be bloodier and more dangerous.

    https://www.guttmacher.org/fact-sheet/induced-abortion-worldwide
Not a MAJOR difference in numbers but then again it is because now women will be forced to do it themselves or some back alley procedure.

As for your point on contraceptives, the issue is that the Republicans go after groups that support birth control and easily accessible birth control as well and the result is that they are basically telling women "Don't you have sex unless you're prepared for the risk of pregnancy!"

What about the group of cells in your ballsack? Do you also support the amendment that would've outlawed vasectomies? If not, why? Why is that any different? Why are there absolutely no laws on the books anywhere that regulate what a male can or cannot do with their reproductive system?
