Chill out man. Nobody was "sure". 99% sure? Okay. But not 100% sure.

    There's a difference

I absolutely think conversations will be had about coaching changes, and that conversation will revolve around James Harden. I think the conversation starts with an exit interview with James and then later with his agent (unless it's still his mom) about generalities with how the season went, and then lead into on the court changes he'd like to see.... which then informs the front office about his happiness within the current system....

Which then leads to a closed door conversation with the senior brass about coaching "options" and evaluating D'Antoni vs. other options.

FYI.... this type of conversation/decision making process likely happens every May/June with every team that has a star level player. The Rockets are no different here I'm sure.

    ......

and based on James' exit press conference "I know what has to change".... I would take that hint that of course D'Antoni is being evaluated right now as we speak, and I wouldn't be shocked if they are currently looking at the coaching market. The chances they make a switch are probably still low, but in the end if Harden wants the change, they'll do it.

Strikes me as a Morey type, but not a Harden type. I see Harden probably preferring to stay with D'Antoni if that's the case.

I would be curious to see Messina since he's italian, but i'm not quite sure he has the charisma/status to coach guys like Harden, Paul, if he would able to handle them etc...then again if guys like Atkinson and Nurse have been able to handle Lowry, Russell...

What about Aldridge? I think he’s a bit like James in that he’s kind of a silent diva. And I don’t mean that in a bad way.

^ It's noteworthy that cyberx posted this tweet, but if you recall, LeBron James at one point was considered a Vegas favorite to come here so.....

I know nothing about Messina. Does he embrace Morey's analytics? If not, no thanks

    oh wow.

I was coming here to say that I have never loved Mike DAntoni. I've been convinced to shut my pie hole due to results. And even like that, Im against a coaching change. More than anything, because if you dont have a replacement, changing can cause you to downgrade.

And right now there is not a huge landscape of coaches that could get us over the hump. That puts us to evaluate assistants, and one of them is better than Messina. He is Ginobili's Sensei, so he has experience with a skilled lefty guard. He comes with winning pedigree and he has won in Europe where stadiums are really pressure cookers.

Not sure if this will go through, but at least gives me optimism.

I know Messina won a few titles coaching in Europe. What is his area of expertise? What kind of offense could we expect from him?

I mean, right now he's pretty much just carrying out Pop's orders.

My guess is Tilman will give MDA another year, but won't hesitate to yank him if we get off to another bad start.

Not if what curry had revealed to coach bud at all star break has any truth to it.

And FWIW....Messina coached manu who’s game is similar to James.

DAJ would more than likely have to take the MLE, right? $5,700,000 or whatever we have available. The true hometown discount.
