The White House has today asserted executive privilege over the remaining documents that have not already been released, as required by law. So if the House Judiciary Committee wants to have a contempt of Congress vote, they now need to target it at President Trump. If they go ahead with the vote against AG Barr anyway, it will just document what a bunch of unhinged clowns these people are, yet again.
I thought Barr said the something about giving the committee a copy of the unredacted version of the report when he had his last press conference? Is that still into play or what?
The most evasive President in US history. A congress that is just pissed off and cannot get over it. Cheers!
Democratic House led, oops, republican senate [edit indicts] subpoenas junior... day after the turtle declares "case closed".
If Mitch had a time machine and knew that if they removed Trump tomorrow, Pence could win re-election in 20, and maintain the Senate, he’d get rid of Trump tonight. Mitch cares about power. That’s it. I think he’ll support anything that helps maintain his power and ongoing power of his position any way he can. Even if it means putting Don Jr. in jail because he’s in the way of the Senates power to enforce subpoenas. McConnell wants Senate power just in case he’s needing it if Biden is elected in 2020 and he’s still majority leader. The House power.... we’ll see how the Senate instructs the Jim Jordan’s to react to the admin obstructing. Watch Devin Nunes and their investigations that could soon issue subpoenas. I think Republicans understand the real power they can maintain in Congress is in the Senate. They might be willing to minimize power in the House if they can retain it in the Senate, but what one loses could affect the other in the long run based on how the courts rule in these standoffs. But regardless of what he says... watch what McConnell does. He’ll never do anything that could affect his power in the future. The House should be smart and make sure they draw parallels to overall Congressional power. That’s what they did in Watergate and a good reason why Republicans went along with them in the end. Dems need to do everything they can to do what Schiff and Warner are doing to bring along their Republican counterparts on the subpoenas they are both pursuing.
Barr releasing an unredacted report would break Federal Law as well as Justice Dept policy. Today, the Democrats in Congress used a Contempt of Congress charge against him in order to try and force him to release it anyways. To me, that appears to be a legalized version of extortion on the part of the Democrat led House Judiciary Committee. Meanwhile, this unredacted report has been offered by Barr to be viewed in a secure setting, yet Nadler refuses. WTF? Oh and by the way....MUELLER HELPED WITH THE REDACTIONS. My question to anyone in the D&D: What exactly do they expect to get from this small bit of information? The report conclusions remain?
