You guys are the people that excused Bruce Bowen. Everyone is glad he is gone and it will be the same with Draymond. Not sure why the officials allow certain guys to get away with things.
My biggest problem is their way of stopping the lob is to just backpedal straight into Capela as he is in the air. It's a clear foul and they have only called it once all series. The other night everytime our guys went for a loose ball they got called for a foul because they accidentally grazed the Warriors. But yet the Warriors are allowed to undercut Capela every time he goes up for an alley oop with no call. It's insane, to me.
its a lot of theoretical bs until we see him play while being officiated the way dwight howard is officiated... his own mother wouldnt be able to recognize him on the court and he would be OUT OF NBA more leeway than some? man thats an understatement of the decade earned? lolololololololololol you seem to be unable to stay uninfluenced by the media hype and bs
As tough as Gerald might be (not that tough), it needs to be big D like Nene. That will get the Donkey squealing without retailiation. I guess you would want Gerald so Donkey could try punching him. Donkey is a p***y to go after big D Nene.
Draymond is clearly trying to wear Harden the F out. I agree we need to squeeze nene in every once in a while. If anything just put the hurt on a couple of their guys. I dont even care if Nene gets called for a Flagrant or a few fouls. We just need him to bruise at this point. He's the biggest mofo out there and obviously he can still shoot. Going to miss him when he leaves. Draymond is not a bubble but a pimple. Just gotta squeeze him out.
I was so furious on that foul call on Paul as he was going for the ball and barely hit Dray who was also going after the ball. Dray fell down like a truck hit him and refs had to call the foul or the out of bounds on Dray. This was the play that Capela stuffed the turkey, Iguodala. All the attention went on Capela’s block instead of the missed call, completely against us.
If Green is a master of anything, it's pushing the rules and getting away with sleazy play and knowing exactly how to do it. There's probably not a single person that knows better how much the refs favor the Warriors than Green. And he uses that to full advantage. The constant b****ing at the refs by him is as much of an obfuscation device as it is anything. He also knows that there aren't really any contenders to stop him. Look at the Rockets right now. Let's say the Rockets wanted to play extra rough or just downright injuriously towards Green. Who's going to do it? You'd think someone like Nene, big and strong with his career ending, would be great for this...but Nene is their number 2 center choice (and number 1 best center in these playoffs), and they cannot afford to lose him. Tucker would rough him up, but we need PJ doing everything for all the minutes, so we can't risk him. You don't have anyone on the Rockets that can actually do anything to him, can be spared in the lineup if they foul out or get suspended, and/or doesn't care if their career gets destroyed for outGreening Green. James Harden could absolutely mess Green up in any number of ways, but we kind of need that guy. Honestly, if I were the Rockets, I'd be looking to keep Harden and Green as far apart as possible on the court for the sake of Harden's eyes.
I agree with OP, mostly. The fact that a guy this size is so hard to beat speaks volumes about his game. Amazing defender, obnoxious competitor. Hope we can get through the hump this time. We have to go at him, I agree; I even saw Capela reading one of his Lobs on game 3.
why do we keep mentioning Dwight Howard? I don't recall any sort of "Dwight's been ref'd poorly" narrative ever around him? To each their own. The leeway Green gets seems to be entirely around "man, he sure seems to get in those refs faces more than most!" Which... yes, sure, he does... BUT I don't really know what's he's saying. And, btw, he doesn't actually get that much leeway. His 16 techs led the league this year (tied with KD and Russ). Last year his 15 techs were second. Did he have a leg swinging problem? Yes. And consequently, the greatest regular season team of all time blew it because of that. Does he now have an eye poking problem? Yes... I guess. To me, it has nothing to do with buying into any kind of narrative. It's just recognizing what it is. Draymond plays hard, smart, passionate, aggressive style that matches well to his height, wingspan and overall defensive skill-set. The year he won DPOY, you can look at the stats, the # of shots he defensed at the rim, and the % against, and the # of shots he defensed on the perimeter and the % against, was kind of unparalleled. Like a Rudy Gobert... AMAZING at the rim, but on the perimeter, struggles. Kawhi, amazing on the perimeter and holds his own inside, but you don't want him guarding the Giannis' of the world or AD as much as you'd at least be ok with it with Draymond. Sometimes he gets away with ticky tack fouls or holds, sometimes he takes charges that aren't called. Such is life in the NBA. You can always b**** at the refs, for both teams.
I mean, this is the type of thing that makes some fans seem like homers. This was a foul on CP3. Did Draymond exaggerate it? Maybe. But you can't possibly be a fan of the Rockets while getting "furious" if other teams exaggerate to earn the whistle. Well, you can, but you'd be a huge hypocrite. I was at the game, had a great view, it was a foul. Saw the replay, with a great view, it's a foul. In neither case was it the most egregious foul ever, and if the refs didn't call it, it wouldn't have been the end of the world, but certainly worth a yelling at by Kerr to the refs then. No one on Houston really complained about it.. rightfully so. As an aside, as amazing a block as it was, definitely one of the best you'll ever see... it's a good play to think about the Rockets defensive scheme. CP3 and Rivers kind of just switch almost for no reason. They are definitely shading Steph and Iggy did a "slight" pick on Steph, and he might have had a sliver of daylight without the switch, but just a sliver... and it was because of that it wasn't a 100% obvious switch, Rivers was late, Iggy made an ok cut. Can't really complain given how Steph is playing this series, but when some folks say the Rockets don't have to switch on 100% of everything, this is the type of play they had in mind. Shump, who had his best game by far as a Rockets, fought through many screens in teh 2nd quarter, and it was effective.
If what they say is true and drayDumb is the heart of the worriers. Then there’s only one thing to do. We should run at him and get him in foul trouble and rip the heart out. Unfortunately the refs won’t allow it and we’d end up with bruised groins, bleeding eyeballs...etc... Clint’s gotta play better and take it to the donkey!!!
James is hella crafty going to the rim and making incidental contact. Early in the Jazz series he made Gobert think twice with certain elbow positioning as he went up for a layup. Im not saying hurt the guy, just go hard to the rim early and politely give Dray something to think about if plans on challenging.
i agree with op. i dunno why they aren't making dray work on defense more. i assume they're gonna play faried much more if at all so nene should be in there 10-15mpg wearing out dray. we should attack him a little throughout the game. i dont want them to all out attack him cuz each game is close and u cant waste shots. but we can do a better job on him. maybe house can pop his playoff cherry by giving dray and good clothesline?
i dont pay attention to nba much outside of rockets but i have to ask, no one has ****ed up green yet? are you ****ing kidding me?
Rockets have not been complaining much after Game 1. Unless I missed it on TV and replay vids, there wasn't another angle of the foul view, you probably had a different angle at the game than what was shown on TV. Draymond fell with his momentum carrying him in the same direction as his movement towards the baseline ref, which was perpendicular to CP3’s movement towards the bench. If there was CP3 contact on that play, Draymond would have landed away from CP3 or at an angle from his initial movement direction. Unless CP3 undercut his landing, it doesn’t make a lick of sense the direction of both players movement perpendicular to each other resulting in where Draymond landed. ...towards his movement. Simply, Draymond’s momentum did not change. Everyone was mesmerized by the block including the announcers that they quickly cut to the block replays and didn’t show if the players were complaining or not. You probably had a different angle at the game and the players complaining or not.
