The Commitments, not sure how many people saw this. I saw it when it was released (limited release, in houston). It definitely wasn't widly known back then.

    Like tears... in rain.

But maybe not. TCM keeps pumping out old films most have not seen, with some treasures among them.

    Footsteps in the Dark

A 1941 film starring Errol Flynn and Brenda Marshall. Flynn had grown tired of playing in all the films we remember. Movies like The Adventures of Robin Hood, Captain Blood, The Charge of the Light Brigade, They Died with Their Boots On, Kim - endless historical adventures and westerns. Flynn wanted to do something completely different, and that’s what he did with Footsteps in the Dark. He’s a rich investment banker who secretly writes detective novels, which leads to his wife suspecting him of cheating on her, and the cops suspecting him of murder. Think Errol Flynn trying on The Thin Man for size, with a lower budget and without the critical acclaim and big box office. He hoped this film would lead to a series of films, but it wasn’t what the audience expected from the “hero” they loved. I found it hilarious and well worth watching.

I'm incredibly impressed with the Footsteps in the Dark nod. I love that movie. I'm one of the biggest Flynn fans there is. He does well in the role. There was a Christmas movie he made called Never Say Goodbye. He plays a similar type of role in that one too. I enjoy both of those films a lot.
